In particular a recent article doing the rounds covered a video taken of ICE agents shows them bragging about a $30,000 bonus for meeting arrest targets.
There has been a lot of news lately of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) agents detaining, brutally in many cases, “undocumented” immigrants. Whatever your view on this topic, it seems several new monetary incentives are behind these behaviors.
Further, the billions in additional funding under Trump’s big beautiful bill to support aggressive deportation goals means these ICE actions will not be slowing down any time soon.

Doing some further AI research showed the following bonuses for ICE and border patrol agents:
- $10,000 to $50,000 signing bonuses for new ICE agents as part of an initiative to rapidly increase personnel and meet the Trump administration’s deportation targets. In addition, some top recruits are getting six-figure salaries as the agency ramps up its mass deportations.
- ICE is offering a return to service bonus of $10,000 upon returning to service; another $10,000 bonus for those who apply by Aug. 1; and annual $10,000 bonuses, for up to three years.
- Rewards of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of escaped criminal illegal aliens. These rewards are aimed at leveraging public assistance in locating and apprehending dangerous individuals, so available to most Americans.
- Rewards of up to $2,500 and other incentives for Border Patrol agents for arrests (from an older report). The structure and amounts of these incentives can change over time based on agency priorities and funding.
It’s essential to remember that the primary mission of ICE and CBP agents is to enforce federal law and ensure national security, not solely to generate arrests for bonuses. Incentives are typically designed to support these broader goals.
With the average ICE agent base salary between $49,739 and $89,528 per year, the additional incentives can make a big difference to their take home pay.
So if even half these incentives are accurate, its likely that arrests will continue and many innocent and legal folks could get caught up in the chase for these incentives. Expect a lot more social media attention on this topic.

I think it is deplorable. This is creating an unsafe environment for everyone. They are arresting American citizens, the elderly and infirm as well as the undocumented. Greed overrides common sense and community every time.
Good for the agents. They are definitely earning the money. Lot of illegal immigrants out there to arrest.
Deporting those who are in the country illegally is enforcing federal law.
Good for them. It looks to be a thankless job.
