People NOW Seeing Their Tax Refunds Plus Tips on What to do if Your Refund Has Not Yet Been Received

The IRS has announced that it is now processing tax returns for all taxpayers, including those who filed a return including those who claimed the EITC/ACTC. Unlike prior years, processing seems to be much smoother this year.

The number of returns processed by the I.R.S. was down about 10 percent from a year earlier, according to statistics provided by the agency. The average refund amount is also likely to be much lower this year.

The agency has however stressed that taxpayers should not expect refunds to be available in bank accounts or on debit cards until late February for those with EITC/ACTC credits, due to PATH act limitations.

Your WMR or IRS2Go status will indicate “processing” until then or will be updated if additional non-PATH related information is needed. Scroll down to see comments and tips from other readers based on the current and past tax year when the PATH act was enacted.

2024 Tax Season Comments and Status

Overall the sentiment across social mean and from reader comments is that the IRS is much more efficient this year and in line with the estimated schedule and normal PATH refund freeze restrictions.

This is likely due to increased IRS staffing levels and the end of pandemic related stimulus payments and payment of expanded tax credits, which mostly managed by the agency.

Refund payment timings differences are due to several factors, including weekends, IRS batch processing schedules, government holidays and the time needed for treasury and banks to process direct deposits.

Comments on Dealing with IRS Tax Refund Delays

You are not alone and below are excerpts from readers like you who have faced delays with their refunds in current and past tax seasons. Also included are reasons why and helpful suggestions to help you get the money you are owed. See more in this Refund update video.

Those who had dates of 22nd, most got their refund deposited on Friday. I was one of them. Those on the 23rd are the ones that will get theirs on Tues/Wed. The banks have the funds already; they just aren’t releasing until starting midnight tonight up until Wed. Think about it, if it only takes let’s just say 24/48 hours for the banks to get the refunds from the treasury…then those that went out on the 15-16…reached the banks in time for Friday releases. Those on 17-18 will release on Tues./Wed. It is the bank that are holding those refunds until after the holiday…IRS warned the delay are with the BANKS, not the Treasury or them.

The IRS had this strategy planned long time ago when they started that PATH law…they knew how they was going to roll out the releases…Treasury Dept. has the capabilities to release without being Opened.

My mom/dad gets SS and their checks are released (5) days and their bank hold it in “pending” status until the date on the check…the same thing for Refunds…some banks don’t hold (depends) on your bank policy. My credit union don’t hold. Don’t be fooled…technology allows anything to process in real time…electronically means just that…real time….just like an email can come from me to you….within minutes.

Oh by the way everyone take a look at your WMR up until you actually get your refund. I have read where some have posted that Sat they had DDD, then Sunday it changed back to ..”we are processing your return…and this weekend that got a ltr 4883 (id verification) or 4464c, and letters asking to fax 1095 health form…varies issues…their DDD was pulled and placed back on hold….

So, don’t spend that money until you actually have it in your bank account/hands…IRS is pulling a lot of tricks this year…

I know everyone may have the same question, so instead of trying to reply to everyone individually, there is nothing you can do from now until Saturday but pray you are one of the lucky ones that will get an update and DDD or 846 on your transcript between now and the 18th.

I HIGHLY recommend you call all day today and speak to as many IRS rep you need to if you got questions or concerned there may be an issues, hold or review that may delay you further..

It only takes 10-15 minutes to get thru this line…(800) 829-0582 ext. 652. Just tell them you got a code on the WMR this morning saying you were instructed to call; but you don’t recall what the code was and you are not at a computer to log in…do I have a letter being mailed or do I need to verify my ID or something? This is a sure way to get them to call up your return to take a look…

If they say just the WMR by the 18th this is a “secret” code for – You will be seeing DDD on or before that day on the WMR…you can get them to but you have to be very persuasive and persistent which take a lot of work…lol. Heck I was worn out after that call…smh. But it was well worth the answer I got at the end. :-).

HINT: Make you your message on the WMR does not say “processing”…but instead “processed”…there is a huge difference…”processing” mean something is still going on and you are not fully done…the other YOU ARE.

The reason for the different wording is for those who did not get the PATH message in the first place; and who still have we are still processing your return and a date will be available….(This is how they can tell them apart).

[Update Feb 14th] The IRS has confirmed to several readers that seeing the “PATH” message in WMR is a good thing. It means the IRS has reviewed your return and is now holding on processing until Feb 15 as required by law. You should start seeing updates to your WMR status and a Direct Deposit Date (DDD) from Feb 15th or 16th (since WMR updates overnight).

Sharon I spoke with IRS on today, if you claim EIC they should start releasing payments on Wednesday Also IRS will be working Saturday & Monday. So hopefully we all should be relieved by the weekend. Special Thanks to Author Andy for this special page!!

Jazzy …You get a FULL PAGE PATH message, starting check back for a personal DDD date after the 15th. Everyone got the 152 path message where you click on the Code 152 to read. The other one…pops up after the bars disappears…. I think people are getting confused about the (2) path message, that’s all…IRS WEBSITE NEWS:

PATH Act Tax Related Provisions delaying EITC and ACTC

The Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act (the PATH Act), mandates that the IRS not issue a refund on tax returns claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit or Additional Child Tax Credit until Feb. 15. The additional time helps the IRS stop fraudulent refunds from being issued to identity thieves and fraudulent claims with fabricated wages and withholdings.

Jennifer says in a comment on the IRS refund schedule “My return was accepted on the 17th. I received an email early Tuesday morning and checked and it was. So I guess some were actually accepted before the 23rd. I do get eitc but not actc.” Gerri on the same article says, “My return was accepted. I find it odd that turbo tax is already giving me a date range. I thought the irs was delaying EIC returns. If that’s the case, how is it possible that Turbo tax has a date for me already. I am hoping that since I filed so so early this year, that maybe the irs is processing some returns to test the system out. Maybe some of us that claim the EIC will not get delayed. Hmmmm….wishful thinking I suppose!”

This prompted the following replies:

Christine – Mine was accepted by the IRS (not H&R Block which I used because my husband is Military) today on the 18th. We have always claimed EIC, so I am hoping ours doesn’t get held. Not because I have pressing issues or bills to be paid.
Amanda – My return was accepted by the IRS. I too claim EIC. I spoke to a tax expert and was told they are not holding all EIC returns. If you have always claimed your child/children and had no major changes they are processing your return on time.
Brandon – Mine was accepted on Friday the 13th been claiming same 2 children for 10 years at hr block no changes on return at all
Kristen – So not everyone’s will be getting held? Mine was accepted today and i filled today

So what is going on?

WMR Status Graphic

This is definitely creating some confusion for readers. But the answer is simple. The IRS was clear that processing would not start till Jan 23rd. But they will clearly accept earlier. Receiving/Accepting your return vs approving/processing your refund is two different things.

To see this more clearly look the official IRS Where’s My Refund tool process diagram which shows the following sequence of how they accept. process and pay out refunds. You can see that when a refund is received (or accepted) it means that it is in queue for processing. But it does not mean it is approved and/or a refund is ready to be paid.

The three status’ in the official IRS WMR tool are (1) Return Received (sometimes = return accepted), (2) Refund Approved and (3) Refund Sent. Sometimes if you are using popular online tax filing tools like TurboTax or H&R block, you may see them showing refund approved. but that is the status in their system or based on an IRS refund payment estimate they have derived from past years. You need to go to the official IRS WMR tool page to see the personalized IRS processing status and refund information/date.

  1. So, no refund yet. I am still hopeful I will receive it today/tomorrow. But, this is frustrating. Their is still no movement on either TT side or SBBTPG side. Yes, it’s a little concerning. But, I will just wait and see before I start calling, just because my ddd is not until 2/23. I was just hoping to get early. Anyone else use TT and have their fees taken out of their refund? Have you received your refund yet? This is my first year filing with TT. So I am curious to see how quickly SBBTPG sends refunds after they receive them. Or do they wait until the actual ddd to send your refund. What have you all experienced in the past or present? Do you receive them early? Or on the actual date?

    Reply
    • AJ, I just got notice SBBTGP they have started releasing funds this morning and some actually see the deposit pending for release. It is here, just the banks taking out their fees then releasing…

It should be today…..not tomorrow. Unless they are holding on to it for interest.

      Good luck…

    • Good morning all. I filed through TT also and haven’t seen any changes. I’m not gonna start panicking yet since my date is the 23rd and yesterday was a holiday

  2. Morning ALL

Update: Please don’t get discourage if you don’t receive your refund today; if will be here over night/Wed. For those who do get their refund throughout the day, CONGRATS…LONG OVERDUE!!! But now the journey has officially ended for you.

Please contact your bank this morning and ask if they are going to deposit refunds throughout the day. Some banks do and some just once a day. Many they did not get theirs owed “FEES” that appears to be the HOLD up for yours.

Rumors have it some returns over 10K are being rejected by prepaid institutions and in return being mailed out. You will be told by them if that was the case for yours if for some reason you don’t see a deposit by tomorrow.

        • Debra,

The routing number that was submitted to IRS on your tax return; that is where IRS is told to send your money. You can then put your own routing number and it will bring up your account.

If I recall if you see 1 in one of those fields, I believe that means a pending deposit. Cause when I did mines at first it was 0 then when I actually say my pending deposit it was a 1.

That could be your first indication; a transfer has posted to the 3rd party or yourself.

  3. Again I hate chase I should had did the JH American Express card nothing on there nothing pending soooo discouraged. Next year I know don’t not use a bank account unless it’s a credit union used the prepaid cards it goes on there directly when it hits. You live and learn

    Reply
    • Hard times-I have never had an issue with hr block emerald card. For me, it was always deposited on a day or two before the ddd date. And it was anywhere from 6pm- 9pm. But, I’m not sure otherwise. I always signed up for notifications. Should be loaded soon, if you have a ddd date of 2/22 or 2/23. Either Tuesday or Wednesday. Hope this helps. I decided to try Turbo Tax this year. I am hoping for mine to hit soon as well. Haven’t decided on whether I like them or not. But, most likely I will use hr block next year again. Just because I really like them.

  5. So frustrated talked to someone at turbo tax he said taxes would be sent directly to me not to their bank. Im so confused i asked how is that possible if you guys need to collect your fees from my taxes? He then read me the same answer every time i asked a question.
    Im so confused!!!!!

    Reply
    • If you had the fees taken out of your refund it will go to their 3rd party bank first so they can collect the fees. And usually it’s released the same day to your bank/ credit union. If you paid your fees out of pocket it will go directly into your bank account, and you do not deal with the 3rd party bank they use.

Money in; Money out…it’s design to work that way…and trust me T-mobile and a lot of business were chastising IRS (article) for hurting their 1st qtr reports by holding our refunds keeping us from spending with them…smh. When we are the real victims…geez.

We want to spend it as much as they want it…I bet next year IRS coming up with a new strategy. Let’s just hope that strategy doesn’t consist of eliminating the EIC/ACTC credits altogether ugh!

        • Why Isn’t Money Available Immediately?

Everyone knows the day that they get paid. The truth is that your employer actually transfer your earnings into your bank account around two weeks before your actual payday, with instructions about which day it should be paid in to your account. This ensures that your money goes into your account on the right day and time.

Depending upon where you bank, your money could be in your account on the stroke of midnight on payday or it could be there after nine a.m. Some banks just like to hold on to your money for as long as they possibly can. Wells Fargo actually processes quickly, with accounts updated around midnight in most states.

Banks update their customer accounts every night, whether they have money coming in or going out. If you do your banking on the Internet, you will possibly have noticed that you are unable to access your account certain times at night. This is when your bank is updating the account. As soon as the bank has finished updating accounts, any money in your account is available to be withdrawn if you have access to that bank’s ATM.

Have you been able to order your transcript yet online, phone or mail? Have you call the offset line to see if you owe anything yet, if they have offset anything it will give you your DDD. Here the number (800) 304-3107

Since its been only 8 days, you may have gotten slowed down due to the release of the PATH funds on the 15-18. If you sent it on the 11th (efile)? That was a Saturday, no processing day, so I will say they actually didn’t start on it until the 13th which would give you a cycle code of 20170702…if you are a weekly the last 2 digit would be (05). I wouldn’t know that until you can see the codes on your Account transcript. Try seeing if you can view it online. If not, you can call this number and request they fax you a copy – you can down load the fax app it will come directly to your phone. here is the transcript number 800-908-9946.

You want your “account” transcript that will show codes… Do you have (1) bar on the WMR…if so, at least it’s been accepted. I think everything is going back to normal this week. Daily returns will update on the WMR on Thursday/Saturday’s…you could even see an update Wed. If you are a weekly, it will update on Thursday, at that point you will be able to order transcripts on Friday and see movement on the WMR on Saturday mornings…

Don’t worry to much right now because IRS process most return within 8-10 days…so I think you will get a DDD this week.

Hope this helps..and Happy Birthday :-). Wish you could have woken up to good news. But I think the BIG PATH release may have push you back a little bit…to get them out. Now that should be back on schedule and running on time…good luck.

      • Hi Jazzy!

Thank you for responding. I did efile and WMR and HR block stated that it was received on 11th which at least it was received that day. I tried to order my transcript for my taxes but I don’t have any of the verification stuff online, like CC, auto loan or mortgage so it was a no go. I tried to call the IRS today using the numbers provided in other articles and they kept saying due to high call volume, please try again later or the next day. I will try to call tomorrow to see if they can fax me transcript. Normally, its not such a big deal, as they usually give me a DD pretty quick, sometimes as early as 5 days(that was a great year!) but this PATH is just been hateful this year to all of us.

        • Mandie, well you should see an update this Wed (Thurs morn) or Saturday. Not sure if you are daily/weekly. You will probably never get in to the 1-800-829-1040, have you tried this one (800) 829-0582 ext. 652 if you call between 7am – 7:30am we were getting in within 10-15 minutes 30 min tops.

Hope it is still that way now that they are in their peak season…

          Good luck…

        • Mandie, when you get them on the phone; watch and see they tell you they did not accept it until the 13.

        • Mandie, just an FYI, e file dates are always off by (2) days. IRS will tell you they did not accept it until the 13th, may even say the 15th since it was done on a weekend and they have two days to open mail and stamp it in. Counting 2 days from Monday 13th, I read about this in the IRS Manual when we noticed IRS always gave us a different date than they day we know we filed…

Although IRS is open 24/7….just don’t want you to be surprise when they tell you a different date. If you get them on the phone ask them which date they show…just trying to see if this is accurate info.

    • Alexusb, you are very welcome :-).

Wow, that would be awesome if you get both this week.

I am hoping for a lot of I GOT MY DEPOSIT…POSTS. Tomorrow/Wed is going to be GREEN TUES/WED…like black Friday, I bet the banks managers are gearing up today behind the scene loading up those volts for all the refunds about to be released …..

Remember Federal workers gets paid on the 15th,SSI, SS checks goes out weekly….so the Treasury was busy since the 15th releasing billions of dollars to banks all over the U.S.

Banks are going to be busy….call member services in the morning to see if they see any deposit pending for release. Remember deposit comes throughout the day…up until 3pm for credit unions…you have to ask your bank how they process incoming ACH…all day or just after midnight.

Also if you think your check may be rejected for any reason, give them heads up so they can stop the rejection. If, you have a spouse and the check is in both names, but only one name is on the account; your bank may reject your deposit….if you have any doubts that something may be wrong…CALL, they will allow you to fix it before they return it back to the Treasury…they usually puts notes in the file and codes to flag attention to it…to hold.

Lord knows no one want to find out it was rejected after waiting all this time….

        • Alexusb, you can’t get anyone to talk to you? See if anyone here on the forum is from your state; to see if they are having trouble. Goggle also, because I read a few states were NOT releasing state refunds until March 1. Do some research and see if you can find anything on google.

Also, ask the question. Has anyone gotten their state refund in your state…usually links will popp up with forums or others who may have some insight.

Texas, don’t have state income….so I don’t know much about the state refunds. I bet you find a lot of information when you google different ways to ask the question…good luck. Let me know if you find out anything.

Most have a database like WMR…for state only.

Googe HR Block STATE income look up….they had a link just for state…didn’t matter if you used them or not.

Everything that you have said so far about this year’s tax season has panned out in the exact order. I know a lot of people are grateful to get this insight from you, I know I would be lost right now and probably pulling out my hair. I am from nc I have five kids and my priorities are to catch all my bills up at least 4 months in advance and purchase a vehicle. I have a lot of personal things going on that this money would eliminate majority of the problems…if only, if only, it would just hurry up and land in my account. I hope they do away with this next year bc a lot of hard working people are catching hell and high water from delays

I make it a point to post accurate information as possible. I spend countless hours reading IRS Manual or researching before I respond to post. I may not be 100% correct all the time; but I try to do my best.

I am really going to be happy to see you post when you finally reach that final destination (refund) in your hands…

You will feel a huge burden lift off your shoulders; what a relief that will be. IRS, can’t even imagine the hardship this new law caused many of us…pray there be a better way they can fight fraud than the PATH.

When I file my tax I did put my First name, middle initial and then Last name. My WMR stating that I will receive my funds on the 22nd of February. I just realize now that my bank account only have my First name and Last name. Would that prevent me from getting my deposit? Would my deposit get dejected?

  18. Update:

Although, Treasury and Banks state they are closed; a lot of actions are going on behind the scene. Trust me IRS started releasing funds on the midnight of the 15th – 18th to the treasury. The treasury has the ability to send funds out electronically automatically within min/hours to banks. They processed over 15 millions returns during that time frame.

Those who had dates of 22nd, most got their refund deposited on Friday. I was one of them. Those on the 23rd are the ones that will get theirs on Tues/Wed. The banks have the funds already; they just aren’t releasing until starting midnight tonight up until Wed…

Think about it, if it only takes let’s just say 24/48 hours for the banks to get the refunds from the treasury…then those that went out on the 15-16…reached the banks in time for Friday releases. Those on 17-18 will release on Tues/Wed.

It is the bank that are holding those refunds until after the holiday…IRS warned the delay are with the BANKS, not the Treasury or them…keep in mind banks do need time to reload and have cash brought in by (Armour) trucks or whatever means they use to reload their volts…to be able to have the capability to pay out those refunds if people wants cash in hand, instead of relying on debits/credits usage.

    Keep that in mind…

IRS had this strategy planned long time ago when they started that PATH law…they knew how they was going to roll out the releases…Treasury Dept has the capabilities to release without being Opened.

My mom/dad gets SS and their checks are released (5) days and their bank hold it in “pending” status until the date on the check…the same thing for Refunds…some banks don’t hold (depends) on your bank policy. My credit union don’t hold…

I am pulling for you all to see that deposit in the morning…please keep us all updated.

Oh by the way, I purchased that 2014 Altima this morning. Got a great deal (President) special and with cash I was able to negotiate the price down along with discounts…for all those who are car buying…this was a great day for doing it…car lots or overstocked and practically giving them away…lol. (well) not really “giving”…lol.

I am one Happy Camper today…hope you all will be soon.

    Good Luck…

So I have been reading along for weeks. Just started posting questions though. So I filed with turbo tax does that mean the bank of turbo tax is the one holding the refund? Or how does it work does the irs only send them their fees and deposits straight to my account? When i talked to the irs they confirmed my dd info and said thats where they will be sending it… Im slightly confused lol sorry. Im just super anxious to get it because i need a car bad lol.

      Reply
      • Marissa,

When you owe fees….the entity you used enters their bank account number on the tax return before it is submitted. So, therefore the Treasury will send the refund to the account number listed, then they will get their monies, then forward to you, the prepaid card etc.,

Your refund can go thru as many as (3) processing before finally reaching your hands. This is why it is not good to use third parties/middleman ….most banks can still move it thru the process quick within 24/48 hours.

Mines went directly to my credit union. When I spoke to IRS rep, he asked me to state my account number, routing number and then he ask me if I had fees coming out to be re-routed to HRB, I said NO, I did it myself with NO fees…he said good; then it will go directly to your bank…with no delays.

So, it makes a big difference how fast you get your refund vs. others.

        Hope this helps…

You are very welcome and thank you. Yes, I hope they are wrong and ALL see a deposit. Even if it is “pending” at least you will see it…right…lol.

Please try to pay upfront to eliminate any possible delays…Banks process are different, not a one fit all policy. Entities like to make interest off your money by holding it an extra day; just the nature of our society. IRS does the same…

Just like when you see 70% off on anything; trust me it was marked up to make you think you are getting a real deal….when in reality…it was the original price they were selling it for in the first place or a little more. How to catch them…google the manufacture price of the item…the price they purchased it for. Then you will be able to see how marketing 101 really works. Thank God, I got a Business Degree…I learned a lot in that marketing class..I would have never thought about that…educating yourself by googling and researching is a valuable tool; in today’s crooked society…smh.

I just hope for everyone’s sake, TT and SBBT start some movement soon. I know there are a lot of people who rely on these funds every year to help make ends meet and to get caught up on things. IRS is expecting to process an Appx. 53 million PATH returns released over (4) days…something to ponder :-)

These figures are only up to Feb 10, 2017 – NOT INCLUDING THE PATH FIGURES from Feb 11 -17 wkly period.

Jazzy I have told my mom about you and she of course questions about several things with those self employed, what forms is needed to report income, where can she obtain them, how much income is supposed to be reported, ex. some say anything over 10k in self employment has to be reported. And if you have any insights or additional information that could assist her in her Mary Kay career?

    Reply
    • Nykky,

It is so easy to file self-employment I did my parents. Just tell her to go the HRB and answer all the questions and all the forms are including in the packet for her. All she has to do it click on all that applies. HRB will do it all for her. It is several forms to complete…but really easy.

She don’t have to worry about gathering up each form. When they ask her how she is filing and she say Self-Employed the prompts will guide her thru it…truly simple. Tell her not to stress over it…and it may be free depending whether she made less than $54,000 I think that was the threshold. Even if it cost a little, it is worth it because she won’t get anything wrong…

      Form 1040.

You have to file an income tax return if your net earnings from self-employment were $400 or more. If your net earnings from self-employment were less than $400, you still have to file an income tax return if you meet any other filing requirement listed in the Form 1040 instructions (PDF).

in order to report your Social Security and Medicare taxes, you must file Schedule SE (Form 1040), Self-Employment Tax (PDF). Use the income or loss calculated on Schedule C or Schedule C-EZ to calculate the amount of Social Security and Medicare taxes you should have paid during the year.Dec 7, 2016

Let me know if she need any additional assistance I will do my best to try to help break it down…ok.

Since 2014 things keep getting worse and worse for us taxpayers…sad to say I think it is only going to go downhill even more…

      • Yeah I’m in the same boat..i definitely plan to get my finances together because I have a feeling this might be the last yr for EITC thx to you know who..that way i don’t have to stress so much next yr depending on it

    • Well Jazzy I live in Mississippi. I have so many plans as for what to do with my refund but first I will give to the main ONE who blessed me to receive. I got my medication to get since I ran out and my dr visit also so my medicine can be adjusted. I am no longer working since mid last year due to everything medical so I will have to start from scratch on everything a place to stay included I may go into shock since I haven’t had any money in pocket since that time and was homeless til January. But it is ok. God is faithful and He will and has been supplying all my needs. What I take from this tax experience is that in everything we as people do plan how we want and expect things to go I speak mainly for myself for when I expect something, I usually get anxious and stressed but to always remember that it is not the supply but the Supplier that has the final say in all things. So I am going to be waiting on excitement maybe again for next year. Not anxious though. Lol. I will definitely not be filing early next year I usually file in the middle so this is definitely a first time experience and I will not be filing late. I did that last year and that was an additional nightmare lol. I wanted to get a car but right now it don’t make sense for me to get one when I am not allowed to drive. But I am decreeing and declaring my car 2016 Nissan Altima and house. I will NOT be having fees taken out anymore!! That is for sure!! Sorry for it being long. Lol. If I was to truly share whom is posting and sharing to you from where I been from 2016 to now, it would be a BOOK!!! I thank you all of you!! Sincerely

      • Nykky, God might not always come thru when WE want Him to, but He is always on Time and will lift our burdens. You need your medication and I pray there are services that are providing you all your needs as you find your way back to the lifestyle you knew before your health change everything…

I will keep you in my prayers and think of you always as we continue to walk this path of Life..so many ups and down, twist and turns….keep our heads spinning. Never give up on HIM…Don’t You Quit very inspirational and uplifting poem.

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit-
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a fellow turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow –
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than
        It seems to a faint and faltering man;
Often the struggler has given up
        Whe he might have captured the victor’s cup;
And he learned too late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out –
The silver tint in the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
        It might be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit –
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.

        • Jazzy, one thing I will most definitely say I am never a quitter for my Father… your poem truly brought true tears to my eyes. And of course I am saving it!! Some how!! Lol!! I wouldn’t be here right now talking and sharing with each of you and sharing this years tax experience if not for Him. Honestly when everything fled and left He has always been faithful and true, even now. I am a true solider for the kingdom!! I need help to save the poem!!! Lol!!!

        • Nykky,

This is another one. See it Thru… (google these poems) or cut and paste to email.

When you’re up against a trouble,
          Meet it squarely, face to face;
Lift your chin and set your shoulders,
Plant your feet and take a brace.
When it’s vain to try to dodge it,
          Do the best that you can do;
You may fail, but you may conquer,
          See it through!

Black may be the clouds about you
And your future may seem grim,
          But don’t let your nerve desert you;
          Keep yourself in fighting trim.
If the worst is bound to happen,
Spite of all that you can do,
Running from it will not save you,
          See it through!

Even hope may seem but futile,
          When with troubles you’re beset,
          But remember you are facing
Just what other men have met.
          You may fail, but fall still fighting;
          Don’t give up, whate’er you do;
Eyes front, head high to the finish.
          See it through!

    • Hello Jazzy, and everyone! I am from Iowa. I am getting a new SUV. Lol. I learned to file later. Lol. All though, that still is a toss up for next year depending on the chaos they decide to put us through next year. Lol. I tried TT this year, and I think I will stick with HR block next year. Lol. Never had issues with them. Omg! I always search the data base. Haha! I have never had anything on there myself, but, I have found stuff for my relatives. We are down to the wire folks. Hopefully the rest of us will start seeing money in our accounts Tuesday! Good luck!!

      2. Getting an eye exam and new glasses, and a few pairs of jeans. Might do myself a kindness and get myself something I’ve been wanting awhile.
      3. Don’t get so anxious over things you can’t control, panic attacks are no fun.
      4. I won’t file the very day I get my tax return. As they say in Hamilton, I’ll be willing to wait for it. And I’ll keep myself more aware of what shenanigans the IRS might get up to. I was clueless this year due to staying away from the news in general. :/
      5. I did that last year actually, came away with a bunch.

Jazzy, I had a question while you’re still here, if you’re still here! What times are people seeing their deposit come in? Is it overnight? I have an eye appointment at 11AM the day I’m to get my direct deposit (onto a Paypal Prepaid Card, which usually accepts it the minute it comes in, if my paychecks are any indication), do you think it’ll be there by that time or should I reschedule my appointment for later/a different day?

Tenn is a beautiful place (nice) and thanks for sharing your plans and answering the questions. I love your answers to them all. I think a lot of us can relate to them…lol.

Not sure when you said your DDD was, but I am 99% sure everyone with a DDD 22/23 will see their deposits by Wednesday the latest.

So if your appt is the 24th, I think you are safe…

WMR has not had any updates with mine since day 1!! I have called several times and they have said it was received and everything looks ok and not to call back until or after the 21st day…lol. It is so frustrating that I cant track my return this year.
I have learned to do my own taxes like I’ve been…except this year.

    • It won’t let me reply directly to you so, here we are.

My DDD is 2/23, so I’m hoping that I have it by that morning. If not, I’ll call and reschedule the appointment, or maybe my mom’ll take pity on me and let me use her credit card until I get my deposit and then I can give the money right back to her. I dunno. Ugh, this waiting is excrutiating!

Thanks again, Jazzy. You were a bright spot in these stressful times. Much love to you.

      • Update: Did a little research. If you want to understand the process; contact the entity you selected for a more detail breakdown on how they process your refund. They all have different setups…

“[F]or those who lack a bank account, and/or would receive a paper check, [a Refund Transfer] may speed up receipt of [a federal income tax] refund by up to six weeks.”1

Every year, millions of American taxpayers choose to receive their income tax refunds using a Refund Transfer (or “RT”)2. According to the Internal Revenue Service, 12.9 million Americans chose an RT in 2010 compared to 12 million in 2009 and 11.7 million in 20083. There are several reasons why this product is so popular. Simply stated, a Refund Transfer permits a taxpayer who does not have a bank account to take advantage of electronic filing and direct deposit of his or her income tax refund. At the same time, the millions of taxpayers using RTs can have their tax preparation fees deducted from their refund.

Here’s how it works: The federally regulated banks offering this product set up a temporary bank account in the taxpayer’s name. In return for this convenience, the taxpayer pays the bank a modest one-time account set-up or handling fee (typically about $30). RTs are usually facilitated by a tax preparer or the software used by taxpayers who prepare their own returns. The return is filed electronically and approximately 8 to 15 after receiving the return, the IRS transmits the taxpayer’s refund to the temporary bank account. The disclosed account set-up fee, tax preparation or software fees are deducted from the refund amount, and the remainder is delivered to the taxpayer via their choice of disbursement methods.

Increasingly, the tax refund is being loaded onto a prepaid debit card, which provides unbanked taxpayers with an opportunity to establish a banking relationship by having their paychecks or government benefits deposited directly to the debit card account.

      Tax (Poem)

As the tax year near, I’m ready to file my 2016 tax
Will fraudsters steal my info to claim the EIC max?
I must file quickly, as every minute my anxiety grows
Uhmmmmmm should I do it myself; or use the pros?

I had my W-2 in hand; so, I was set and ready to go
E-file? IRS says its the fastest way; to get your dough
Then, I get this Path msg; saying there will be a delay!
Well I thought to myself; what else can get in my way?

Why did I ask? I looked in my mailbox, guess what I see?
A certified letter from the I.R.S.; starring in front of me (ugh)
OMG, I broke out in a sweat; my hands started shaking
My head started pounding; every body part was aching

I was still in despair and totally shocked; getting the ltr
Calm down, exhale, just read; and see what’s the matter
Audit ltr 4464c, this must be a mistake; I can call or wait…
I am in too deep; I am about to lose a lot of nightly sleep (hehehehehe)

I don’t want any worries; I need to know what this is about
Only one way to resolve this; is to call the IRS and find OUT!
Two weeks later; bank notified me; my refund deposit is HERE (yipppppppeeeeee).
Now I relax a bit; until the process; starts all over next YEAR!!!

      NOTE:
Bob, comment hit the mark; take out less for Uncle Sam
He’s making interest on your $, now that’s the real SCAM

  30. Morning update:

I am feeling really lonely now that no one have a tax questions anymore…lol. (sad face) But on the other hand I am so happy to see so many others helping each other by updating Bank institutions updates. (happy face) I am sure most of you got tired of seeing Jazzy, Jazzy, Jazzy….all over the forum day in and day out…well I don’t blame those who did, I got a little tired of seeing that myself…hehehhehhehehhehe.

Now this is a display of true TEAM WORK at its best…the 2nd half of the process belongs to YOU guys and I see you ALL are stepping up to the plate to contribute and share your experience and knowledge about the individual banks you have your Deposits being released. (AWESOME).

Keep in mind there are a lot of things can go wrong during the transition:

    1. Wrong account information provided (double check your return)
    2. Banks can deposit your refund in the wrong account (that happened to me on a regular deposit) and I had someone else monies in my account one morning. I contacted the credit union and they fixed it immediately on both occasions.
    3. One of the occasion I had to wait until the next morning; they had to check their ledgers (credit/debits) balance sheet to see where they were off…to find the mix up.
    4. Your name is not listed on the account (which must match name on refund) or it will be rejected. (You can fix this before the banks send it back to the Treasury by calling them and notifying them you are expecting a refund; they will allow you to come to the bank and add the name to the account; or put it in the right account by your NAME instead of the ACCOUNT number…

Tuesday morning let the bank know you are expecting that money; they will make a note on your account and watch out for it..some may even call you before they reject the refund out of courtesy if there is an error.

Bank Cards/Pre-Paid/HRB Loans/TT….etc., I have NO expertise/experience in this area; so I am 100% relying on ALL of you who does to take over and continue to help each other until everyone has gotten their funds which hopefully will be the latest by the 24th.

By all means GOOGLE, GOOGLE, GOOGLE the banks REVIEWS for prior tax refunds issues (good or bad). This may give you insight on what you can expect this year…

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HELP IN ANSWERING GENERAL TAX QUESTIONS AND PROVIDING UPDATES AND CONTACT NUMBERS ON BANKS/PRE-PAID INQUIRIES…TRULY GRATEFUL!

You have also contributed and helped so many with your post and knowledge and should be commend for giving up your time for others…So many on here have done the same…and I know those who are “silent” and those who “spoke” acknowledge this was a great group of (respectful/compassionate) people who truly cared about each and every one of their issues…and showed it in there posts/comments.

I am about to leave for Church….so you guys keep up the good work and carry on….Tues will get her soon, but I know not fast enough…the long wait by IRS, has shorten our patience and now they are asking you all to wait some MORE….geez that is pure torture uh?…SMH.

WMR should be back on regular schedule now and going fast. Monday’s the Master File sent over to the Treasure to release deposit on Wed/Fridays. Since the massive updates are over, shouldn’t any delays. I would think you would see movement on the WMR this week.

What is your cycle code? Can you view your transcript yet? If so, check it online and see if there is anything they could cause a further delay like code 570/971 or you just may see code 846 Refund Issued:

It’s only been a week…so give it one more week. If you like you can still try to see if IRS will give you any insight. Now that the PATH is over…WMR is updating normally. What is your message saying…?

        • i contacted TurboTax in reference to several issues. One dealing with their system not showing change to approved but still saying accepted. He stated they have not been notified by IRS of change in filing statuses. Which he states they are waiting on updates from IRS. I explainr to him that there is an issue that I need to address with their bank cause the IRS have released my refund and they are not processing it when it have been sent. He said that is then with the bank and I said well this is also an issue for the company cause you supposed to be representing us and your company is going to lose valuable customers due to your bank that is representing you cause they are holding the refunds of not just mine but over thousands of your customers. I then also asked about the 3rd party contact number cause the number I received from them yesterday several times was automatic and I wanted to speak with a person living about my refund that I have not received. He gave me the same number I already had. Stated he needs to speak with his supervisor cause I said this is the same number, (which by the way they have a cool video where you can see them but they can’t see you,) placed me on a 15 minute hold which I waited he came back took off of hold realized I was still connected quickly put it back again had nerve to send me a survey about my experience all the while I waited and said exactly what you reading that it could of been resolved with a simple number instead of hide and seek. Which sbbt hours of operation tomorrow is 8am-12pm pst. Monday-Friday 6am-6pm. I pray that we all receive what rightfully belongs to us very soon. Without the tricks and schemes that we already as a group stood strong through.

    • I have been filing with turbo tax for years and I have never had a problem getting my refund. I have always received it before my due date. Now you have to remember banks are closed on weekends and on Mon.
