Retroactive Unemployment Benefits Back or Missing Payments for Expired $300 Weekly FPUC, PUA and PEUC Programs – Claim Weeks Covered

With the expiry of federal enhanced unemployment benefit programs like PUA, PEUC, $300 FPUC and $100 MEUC after September 6th 2021 in all states, there have been a lot of questions around what happens with ongoing, new and past payments. You can see the following sections where I discuss these in more detail.

Ongoing and regular weekly payments ended after September 6th (week ending September 11th in most states). This means a cessation of federal pandemic unemployment benefits for 8 million+ jobless or under-employed claimants which that will result in them losing all current and future benefits under the PUA, PEUC or supplementary $300 FPUC programs.

Retroactive Unemployment Benefits

States like New Jersey and California, have already stated that validated retroactive claims after a successful determination or appeal for eligible weeks (when the programs were in effect before September 6th) would be paid out over the next several weeks. Note, per the sections below, that back payments are limited to the program extension coverage periods.

Eligible Claimants should continue to certify for benefits for weeks they are owed unemployment. Any weeks of unemployment that occurred before these programs expire can still be paid retroactively if a claimant is later determined to be eligible for those weeks of benefits. Check your state unemployment website for more details on certifying for retroactive back payments.

Handling of Retroactive Unemployment Benefits

Retroactive benefits (or back pay) is legally required to be made by state unemployment departments for all eligible weeks under the PUA and PEUC programs. Weeks where claimants got at least $1 of unemployment would also qualify them for the extra $300 FPUC program payment.

Biden ARPA Unemployment Benefit Extensions

Congressional leaders and the President have now passed another COVID relief stimulus package into law. The package includes funding for extending the $300 FPUC weekly boost, Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) and Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) programs to September 6th, 2021 or the earlier end date some states have chosen to end participation in these federally funded programs.

Eligible claimants who certify under existing programs like regular state UI, PUA, PEUC or EB for the applicable weeks will automatically get the extra $300 FPUC unemployment Claimants who had exhausted their PUA or PEUC benefits and needed to wait for their state unemployment departments to update UI programs will be retroactively caught up for back payments in subsequent weeks – however their may be some manual intervention required in certain cases as discussed below.

Will I get my retroactive or back payments if my states end benefits early?

With many states ending their participation in the federally funded unemployment programs several weeks earlier than the September 6th end date, a lot of claimants who have had delays or issues with their claims getting paid were naturally worried if they would get back payments. The answer is Yes. Because the funds are allocated at a federal level, the state unemployment agencies are obligated to pay any eligible new or existing claim payments prior to the end date of the state’s participation in the program.

States had to provide 30 days notice to the US DOL prior to ending the PUA, PEUC, $300 FPUC programs. This also requires them to ensure retroactive payments are made on claims prior to this notice period. After the state’s termination date no new or active claim payments will be made. Not surprisingly many states are still struggling with large backlogs and fraudulent claims, so it is expected it could take several weeks for some states to make back payments for eligible weeks.

How Far Back Can I Claim the Retroactive Unemployment Benefits?

As discussed in this article, the new $300 FPUC payment for 2021 will only be retroactive to the start date of the new program coverage period in the same manner as previous supplementary UI benefit programs. This means that back payments for the new $300 FPUC are not payable retroactively for any week prior to December 27th, 2020 (under CAA) or March 14th (under Biden ARP extension), even if you were getting PUA and PEUC for the last several months.

Will I get Back Payments Automatically Applied or Manual Claim/Actions Required?

Once states are able to update their IT systems to pay the extended PEUC and PUA benefits (see this video for a discussion of the PUA mess and PEUC rollout challenges) they are automatically adding the extra weeks to eligible claimant accounts. One the claimant claims or certifies for the relevant weeks they should get payment for current and past eligible weeks.

However due to the complexities, unique cases or system limitations some states area asking claimants to take manual actions to get back payments. For example in Pennsylvania (PA), claimants on PEUC are being requested to email the UC Help Desk for backdating retroactive weeks. Similarly in IDES in IL is asking claimants to call their call center representatives to discuss backdating their claims

So essentially if you cannot claim your past weeks online or you have received a current/recent week payment but no back payments for prior eligible weeks or any official notification of delays, then you will likely have to take a manual action via your state UI agency to get your payment.

What about States Ending Pandemic Unemployment Benefits Early?

Several states have already announced they will be ending their participation in the federally funded unemployment programs early (see full list) in a bid to encourage jobless workers to return to the workforce.

In this situation retroactive payments for any eligible claims filed prior to the states pandemic program participation date will continue to be processed and paid. Retroactive benefit payments could occur several weeks after the end date for covered weeks as states update systems to account for the end of these programs and revert back to their traditional unemployment programs/systems.

[September 2020 – Expired Programs] While the $600 FPUC program has now ended (see update below), with no formal extension in place due to a Congressional stalemate, it was been replaced by the Lost Wages Assistance (LWA) unemployment benefits program. You can see this article for details on the now expired temporary LWA $300 weekly payment (some states are making a $400 payment) that President Trump approved in mid-August (using $44bn of FEMA funding) via executive order. Most states have made all payments under this program (full list here) including retroactive payments.

Based on reader comments its clear that some people are still getting or waiting for their $600 FPUC retroactive back payments. That is a different program to one paying the LWA benefits and back payments will continue to be made to eligible claimants. It has however expired for new or continuing claims as of August 1st, so if you lost your job after that time or were expecting the $600 then you would be out of luck. You need to leverage the LWA program and benefit for that.

So if you are still getting at least $100 of benefits under current and enhanced benefit programs (like PUA and PEUC) then you should continue to certify on weekly or bi-weekly basis to receive current and retroactive $300 weekly payments. Both the payments are being administered and paid by state unemployment agencies. So you would need to contact them if you are having issues with these payments. See below and comments section for helpful tips.

Update on $600 FPUC Retroactive Back Payments

All states and territories have now updated their unemployment systems to account for the extra $600 Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC) payment to those eligible for regular unemployment insurance (UI). While the roll-out and payment of these benefits has been plagued by challenges with some states struggling a lot more than others, millions of Americans have now received their entire extra/stimulus unemployment benefits. As a reminder, the additional $600 weekly payment, including retroactive benefits should occur automatically (unless specified by state unemployment site) for anybody eligible for any amount of state unemployment benefits — even as little as $1. The payments, including retroactive or backdated payments for eligible weeks a claimant has certified, will continue through the end of year, even the program ended for new claimants at the end of July.

The good news is that even though payments have started later the planned, they will be retroactive to when states signed up to receive the federal boost for their unemployment programs. This is generally for the week ending 4/3 in most states. So if you were eligible to receive unemployment compensation from that week then you would be eligible to receive payments from that date. The table below shows when states started making the $600 FPUC payment and when the payments were retroactive to.

Unfortunately many readers have noted issues with these retroactive payments whereby they have not received them at all, even though they had gotten their first $600 payment per state schedules. So while many were expecting a large first payment worth thousands, they ended up getting just their base $600 payment. And when they contact their local state unemployment agencies they cannot get a clear answer and are told just to wait while they clear back logs of new claimants. See more reasons why your $600 payment stopped or was delayed.

Given the delays in getting paid your unemployment checks, many jobless workers may be worried that they could be missing out on payments for the extra weeks they were unemployed. The good is that individuals still waiting on a decision regarding their unemployment eligibility will receive all back weeks of FPUC due to them, even if that decision is made after the end of the current FPUC program in July. They may need to go back and certify for weeks they were eligible (which will vary by state), but they will eventually be made whole for unemployment payments they qualify for.

Backdated Payments with PUA claims

Several readers have asked if the $600 payment will be back dated for those who become eligible for state unemployment benefits under the PUA program. While this is subject to the different timelines of the PUA and FPUC programs, generally speaking if you qualified for the PUA program between early April and the end of July, you would be eligible for FPUC benefits per the dates shown below. This includes backdated payments for weeks you were eligible. In most states backdated PUA and FPUC payments will be paid in one lump-sum one to two weeks after you receive your first payment of eligible state UI benefits.

How to File for Unemployment Benefits Back Payments

Many of the recent comments in this article reflect the challenges with actually being able to claim unemployment back payments for eligible weeks. In particular getting through a live agent or getting a response from your local state agency has been a challenge – which has often meant stress and panic around the status of your unemployment check, and if you will even be getting paid one for current or past weeks.

While it varies by state, the following are the key ways to file and get your retroactive unemployment payments:

  • To claim past weeks or correct dates you will generally have to contact your state UI agency and get them to retroactively certify you for past week. Getting an agent is a challenge, so may agencies are offering secure message as a way to lodge your claim. New York is doing this extensively and people have reported this is more effective than trying to get through to someone.
  • States like Florida have actually setup dedicated phone lines and options (e.g choosing Option 5) to modify the date of unemployment claims or to certify for past weeks. In California, there is a dedicated site to certify for past weeks to confirm your eligibility (retroactive certification).
  • Some states like PA are trying to do more of this online through their unemployment portals/dashboards, and actually are recommending claimants experiencing any errors or issues email (rather than call) their state agency. But response times are still expected to be several days.

Your determination for benefits ad back payments (including under the PUA program) will generally be mailed to you or available on your state agencies online unemployment account or dashboard. This is probably the most up to date place and once approved payments will be made in one lump sum either via direct deposit or debit card

Is my State Processing Unemployment back payments?

The answer is yes. All state UI agencies and departments are processing claims and will backdate your claim to when you first became unemployed, as reported by you when you enter your last day of work. You will need to generally contact them to update your unemployment date if incorrect so that they can correctly pay retroactive benefits. However states like Florida, North Dakota, Arizona and Ohio are still well behind making these retroactive payments due to IT system issues around certifying eligibility for past weeks and taking initial claims for new worker groups (e.g freelancers) eligible for unemployment and the extra $600 under PUA provisions.

  1. How long dose it take to get ur 600.00 back pay father u starting getting ur check .u can not get no one on the phone to answer questions.paper said I would get 600 from 4/4 to July

    • Has the unemployment website updated your effected date from what it was to 4/4? And if so have u claimed all of the backpay weeks?? And it’s so if u have direct deposit you unemployment backpay should be direct deposited the very next day and the $600 federal pandemic payments will be the follow day. (So two days from when u claimed ur backpay weeks) I mean unless you claimed them on like a Friday than to my understanding u will have to wait until the next business day. Like I have 15 weeks of backpay to claim so I was able to claim 8 before being booted off the website bc it was after 8pm and this was on 8/26 so than 8/27 I claimed the other 7 weeks as well as received 8 weeks of back pay in my bank account and than today 8/28 I received the other 7 weeks backpay and the first 8 weeks of the $600 federal pandemic payments and than on Monday I will recieve the following 7 $600 federal pandemic payments. Hope this give you some incite. Oh also I’m in FL

  2. I am self employed. I wasn’t aware that I could collect unemployment benefits. I completed my application in New Jersey on June 7 indicating my business was impacted since March 20.

On June 28, I received am email indicating I am eligible for payment of Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) and an additional $600 per week through Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC). I logged into New Jersey’s website and was only given the option to certify for 3 weeks starting from June 7 only. Within days, I received PUA and FPUC dating back to June 7.

It’s now July 14 and haven’t received the retroactive payments I was expecting. Will I receive FPUC retroactively from the week ending of April 4? Or only the week of June 7?

    • I am asking myself the same question. I stopped working about 2 months before I applied for PUA and FPUC. I am only receiving the benefits from the date I applied and not those 2 months. I wonder if they will end up paying me as well.

    • You will not receive any more retroactive payments. They dated your unemployment for June 7th because that’s when you filed.
To get the correct retroactive payments from when you were actually not working you will need to contact them by phone.

    • You need to call unemployment (and yes it’s going to be a totally and complete pain I. The ads PLUS SOME). Just bc you put that u were out of work since March 28th ur effective date goes by when I applied and were approved for the unemployment. Like my effective date was 7/12 but I called and told them I needed to change my effective to from 7/12 to 3/31 and that was on 7/24 and I just received 15 backpay weeks that needed claimed and all I’m waiting for as of now (which will be there Monday) is the last 7 of the 15 $600 payments and the o my reason they all didn’t come at the same time was bc I claimed 8 backpay weeks one day and the other 7 the other day bc I was booted off the website bc it shuts down at 8pm

  3. I’m in Alabama, I was denied for regular UI but received letter stating I was eligible for PUA so I filed online as instructed and have been doing weekly certifying. But UI claim tracker is saying pending issue is stopping payment self employed and that I would be notified if further information is needed. So any information on this issue or how to resolve will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  4. I did not realize I would be eligible for UC benefits at the time I first applied. My work situation was unlike any in my past where I would be eligible. I was still employed but offered unpaid leave to avoid getting sick from COVID-19 and stopped going to work in early March using the unpaid time off my company offered. A friend who is a coworker told me to apply in April, so I figured why not? I doubted I would be approved based on still being employed. Weeks went by and finally in June my claim was processed and became payable. I was back paid *only* to the date of my initial claim in mid-April and despite multiple communications from the state prior to processing requesting additional info regarding my dates of unemployment, etc, I was never paid for the time off between March and the date I finally first applied. I have reached out countless times to no avail. You still cannot get through to anyone if you try to call. Going on 2 months now at least, no matter when you call any of the numbers state-wide you immediately receive an automated message saying due to high call volume my call cannot be taken at this time and to call again next business day. I have filled out and submitted numerous email forms and never hear back. I finally reached out to my local legislature who reached out 3 times on my behalf, and nothing ever happened. No communication whatsoever from NJ unemployment regarding my issue. Very frustrating. Why bother asking for all sorts of additional info regarding the details of your unemployment, including the actual last day worked and first date of unemployment, if they do nothing with it?? I did received a back-pay to when I filed, but NOTHING from between that date and the month prior when I was not working. I even submitted my pay stubs for that prior month showing no hours worked and no income. All in all I received about 1/2 the funds I expected. I understand how many ppl are in the same situation all applying and waiting for benefits so I get it they are overwhelmed. But I expect to be able to communicate in some way with a real person. 2-months, if not longer now, I have not been able to reach a real person or get any sort of response.

  5. Hi, Krystal from Illinois !
I filed for 13 week extension on 6/1 , it was approved and everything. But i was so uninformed I didn’t know I shoulda done that since March! So anyway, I was on unemployment last year and exhausted the benefits in January of this year. Am I still eligible to receive back pay for the months I skipped? Oh and mind you, on the paper they sent me it says that the new “date of claim” is March 2020, which is when the care act was passed . I have read a lot of comments, but I’m wondering if you guys filed some sort of form to receive back pay for FPUC(600)
I was so bummed out because just when I started receiving unemployment , the FPUC is about to end!
So yea, I would appreciate the help!

  6. I was denied normal Unemployment and was told to apply for PUA, which I did several weeks ago (3-4 weeks). I started filing weekly claims since beginning of May and have continued to do so at present. I still have not heard anything from them, let alone get a payment. If PUA does stop at the end of July, and I still haven’t gotten anything, am I screwed or will there be back payments after that date since I had been filing?

    • They say on the state sites, you will receive it. Even after the last day. If you filed for it, you’ll get it. They are just way behind. It may come in a lump sum.

In the meantime i just saw this article:

Jun 24, 2020 · DEO says starting on July 6 you must call 1-833-352-7759 (FL-APPLY) and select option 5 to request a backdate. The phone option will not be active until then. For Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) claims, DEO says those will automatically become retroactive in CONNECT.

  10. So I am out of work due to COVID-19. I have been filing for unemployment here in Minnesota for 15 weeks. I still have yet to see 1 dollar. I spend 20-30 hours a week on hold to the unemployment office. 1 or 2 times a week I’ll actually talk to a human who is usually very rude, evasive, and just tells me what I want to hear. How can I go about getting some real answers? I have absolutely nothing and I am in no position to work right now.

Back dating application unemployment date takes 60days to get your back pay cuz Minnesota is 1 month behind I was told by a Supervisor. Best bet call everyday an annoy them like I do you’ll get your Answers Guaranteed I do. Ask 4 a Supervisor soon as someone picks up the phone you’ll jus have 2 hold longer hope this helps Minnesota.

    • Yes you should receive back pay for the $600 PUC benefits for weeks you got regular state UI. Not sure of her friends situation but likely she was denied for regular state UI so became eligible for PUA (also part of enhanced UI package) so then also gets the extra PUC payments backdated. They do get paid in one lump sum when ultimately processed by the state UI agency.

Called unemployment number (cause they hired more people and extended their phone hours) only for an automated system to tell me they aren’t taking calls but have extended their hours for phone calls. It says back pay claims will still be paid if you were unable to file but tried. That tells me nothing. I tried until May 15th when I was able too. How do they know how long I tried? I put the last work date was March 17 but Ive gotten no other information if I qualify for it. I just want to know if Im supposed to get it so I can quit twiddling my thumbs.

        • Hi Lindsey,

This sounds very similar to what I am trying to accomplish! I have now submitted a request on “ask EDD” 4x to backdate my claim to previous months because I was not able to claim due to “looking for work”. Did anything positive happen on your end because this is a big lump some ($) I am trying to figure out? Some websites say this money is only available to backdate till July 31st in CA. There’s no live person to help and EDD still has not responded to my request on “Ask EDD”.

        • I had a lady at the TWC (TX unemployment) call me from her cell phone and gave me her number. She said since I didn’t apply until May 15th they may ask for proof that I have been trying since March. 1) gig workers weren’t even able to apply until April. 2) I couldn’t get an account set up or get through on the phone. I have no proof. I talked to no one and didn’t take screenshots so I might not get the back pay. She sent my request for a call. We’ll see if I get one by Monday.

  16. NJ is here. I have just talked to Vanessa from Unemployment Office. My problem was that I claimed late on 5/11 and wanted to know if there was a way to receive FPUC weekly since they day I stopped working. She said she would request it for me. So If you applied late and were able only to certify for weekly benefits till your claim date, you should call the office. I had called them today 15 times before I finally reached them. Good LUCK!

From my knowledge if your claim was approved and you have been paid out for 6 weeks of PUA you will definitely be paid out 6 weeks of FPUC payments. It can take up to 2 weeks to sometimes receive them. How long did it take for you to receive the PUA money

    • Tyler N,

It took me 2 days. I was approved on Saturday and received my $ on Monday. But is there any way I can receive the 4 weeks of April ? I am not sure because I claimed on 5/11. If I call to NJ Unemployment, can an agent fix that for me? I have unemployed since mid march. Cheers

      • Every state is different. Most it’s a issue. They might ask questions like why didn’t you file earlier and very well might ask for proof of when you lost your job like my state did.

  21. TN here. I haven’t even been able to get the regular unemployment, let alone the extra $600. It keeps saying it is in progress. I can’t get through to anyone via phone, have left messages and tickets without responses, and there is nothing that looks wrong when I do my monthly certification. I don’t know how they expect people to pay bills. They should hire a bunch of us unemployed folks to handle the backlog. Maybe something would actually finally get accomplished.

How can I get fix my claim to where I will receive back pay from March until now? I talked to UI on the phone and she BSed me say I would get a call back in 20 days from her supervisor. To change a date? Isn’t that what they are hired for? I don’t understand.

      • AZ customer service is no better. Either the Claims Rep (thru no fault of their own)ague has been given such vague reasons (probably do to DES not wanting to admit that not only their phone systems are outdated and need upgraded, or they are being to finicky about the simplicity in the basic system and buck art the idea of a few different ways updates would change by integrating and updating the system. Even tho i am sure every year some vendor has presented an upgrade that’s been stashed in it departments to do pile. Upgrades mean fine tuning which usually means questions which as soon as that word is said or read you got csr”s rolling their eyes and huffing and puffing, and the department heads that would be close to tenure would all be nodding yet shaking there heads because Change is bad right now, we can discuss for future but right now it just would not do, employees would be in a uproar and phone lines would be clogged ….HELLO – is there anybody in there? I have called everyday for two weeks, i think any change would be an improvement. And streamlining the calls doesn’t have to be presented as it works, of course that’s confusing, but as the inbound call comes in what will the next step be. Make it functional and you’ll have happy employees and an even happier community – not so at large.

    • You definitely should have that back dated as you have proof of when you lost your job. They may ask you to fax or email a document proving that and you shouldn’t have a issue other than waiting for your back pay like most of us.

  23. Hello I live in West Virginia my husband was off work from the end of March and still today. His company told him that they were going to pay him not to apply for unemployment. When we never received payment of any kind my husband applied for unemployment on May 25, 2020. He put in his unemployment application that his last day of work was March 23. He was approved for unemployment and received his first check 4 June. But they have not retroactively paid him from the first day he was off work only the day he applied for unemployment. Should he be paid from the first day he was off work or the day he signed up for unemployment I’m so confused…

    Reply
    • When he submitted the unemployment claim/form he should have stated the date he lost his job. Normally you are eligible for unemployment benefits a week after losing your job, but that requirement was waived so he should have gotten unemployment from the date he stated he was unemployed, which is validated by the company.

I do that and then I have to re file my claim June 4, and am told to request first check June 17. SO…… I do that and get payment for the 2 weeks in June , smh , how do I get my back pay ??? 25. This is regarding the Florida $600 weekly.
I filled out an unemployment request on 6/19/2020 BEFORE I was let go. On the application, I stated I expected to return. My last day of work before self-isolation was on 3/19/2020. I returned to work on 6/9/2020 only to be let go because the position was eliminated on 6/20/20. I requesting retroactive “Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation” $600 per week benefits from 3/20/2020-6/8/2020 since I stayed home at my employers request because of COVID19. I did receive a direct deposit payment on 6/23/2020 for $540 (I assume that is $600-$60 tax) so I suspect I have been approved but have received no indication from postage or email, that my application was approved.

How do I verify those dates or make updates? Will I receive the retroactive “Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation” $600 per week benefits and how/when should I expect to get them?

Why have I not received the back payments yet, after it told me it was sent to my account? Maybe tomorrow it will be there ( Wednesday) since it was a Saturday I received email?

Has anybody experienced this and was paid eventually? I tried to call them but they can’t give me an answer.

But I have searched IDES website several times and can’t find said form. Can someone please give me answers as Im in dire need of these monies. Thanks in advanced!

Now I am suppose to claim for my 2 weeks today and I was going to claim one week this week and hopefully get the $540 and then claim the 2nd week next week and see if it drops another $540 but now I don’t know anymore ugh It shouldn’t be this difficult to try to get money.

    • The same thing happened to me in Florida as everyone. The payment system has changed and they did this without informing anyone.I got two 600.00 payments and then nothing. It turns out that All state and federal payments are now paid bi-weekly as of May 19th.So I did not get a payment until I filed 2 weeks later for the 2 weeks after May 19th.The 600.00 would come 4 or so days after your state says you are eligible in 2 week increments. So I just got my 2 week 1st 250.00 payment and am still waiting for the 600.00.I applied originally back in march and have gotten no retroactive payments.I think Desatan/Desantis is keeping the money in the Florida state coffers and letting interest grow for the state.Nothing else make any sense.

      • I assume you called or went on the site to back date your claim date. Otherwise you will never see the retro money. Either you go to FL’s back date website page or you speak to an agent and they will complete a “action form” which is on the computer to submit for approval or if you are very lucky you get a high level clearance agent “supervisor” who picks up your call and does it on the spot like mine was done. Luck of the draw. No issues so far.

    • The max payment is $600 p/week. Some states pay bi-weekly and some retroactive payments are being made so that in a given week the actual payment may be more than $600. Also there are 3 main programs in the enhanced benefits program. The FPUC pays $600 the rest are an extension of existing state UI benefits.

Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC) – provides an additional $600 per week to any eligible individual until 7/31/2020.
Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) – provides up to 39 weeks of benefits per week to those not ordinarily eligible for Reemployment Assistance. This includes individuals who are self-employed or contract employees. The additional $600 FPUC per week will be automatically added to all regular UI and PUA benefits.
Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) – allows for an additional 13 weeks of benefits added to the end of or exhaustion of regular unemployment insurance benefits. This means claimants may collect unemployment benefits for a longer period of time than under normal circumstances.

Check your bank information to ensure all is correct, and lastly, make sure you’re not being issued a paper check via U.S. mail. Also, make sure your mailing address is correct in your profile/account.

  40. FL – Applied for unemployment on 05/03 (Wed). Was approved for $125/week. Received $600 payment on 05/13. Then received another $600 payment plus $125 for one week of unemployment on 05/19 (Tues). I have not received anything else. I went into the system today to claim for the next 2 weeks of unemployment payments, but I am extremely concerned about the $600. This is the 2nd week in a row that I have not received the $600. I called and was told that the state does not disperse the $600 payments because they are federal funds, and are dispersed directly by the federal government. I mentioned to the rep that the direct deposit for both the $125 state unemployment and the $600 federal funds were deposited by the same entity (Florida DEO). He did not have an answer, he said there was nowhere to call to inquire, and told me he was not sure whether those $600 payments would be paid retroactively. Today, I read an article online about how FL unemployment is having to re-train their employees because they are providing inaccurate information to callers regarding the $600. They are telling callers that they need to contact the federal government regarding the payments because they are not responsible (basically what I was told). So, according to the article, the state is DEFINITELY receiving the federal money and is responsible for distributing it. There is definitely something sinister going on when the reps are telling people something completely different. Also, I was never paid for the “waiting week” and part of the CARES act includes not having to be submitted to an unpaid “waiting week.” The rep said I should be receiving a check in the mail (even though I am set up for direct deposit), but could not provide any information as to when that would happen. Governor Desantis is responsible for this, as he is responsible for Florida’s unemployment. Keep this in mind, people!!!

      • I applied for PUA for my son and he has had no real issues. He does not get the full $600 FPUC though. He is getting $125 PUA and $504 FPUC each week. My experience is that the retroactive payments have to be requested, on the Saturday (date) of each week starting from the approval date. In GA, the FPUC date is 4/4 so we had to go back from the week of 3/9 (last date at work) to request PUA for each week and the FPUC we went back to the week of 4/4. We did have an instance, 2 weeks ago, where only the PUA was paid. Granted we never had clear instructions, to be on the safe side, when I do his weekly request I click Claim Weekly UI benefits and then I click on Claim weekly PUA benefits. So, back to the week he only got PUA…. I went on the site and Claimed weekly UI benefits and the FPUC was in his account the next day. This may not be your issue, or solution, but it’s what has worked for us. As soon as you certify, the money is direct deposited 2 days later. When I certified all of his weeks, his first payment was $5400. I pray you get what you’re entitled to!

      • Oh Sunny….

THERE IS NO SEPARATE FORM TO RECEIVE RETROACTIVE PAYMENTS!!!!
The government and media have been warning about SCAMS for months using these methods, as well as ways to “expedite payments” of UI benefits or Stimulus checks- all you have to do is fill out forms (with all of your personal and/or banking information) and then submit them… directly to the scammers. I hope you don’t experience any kind of identity fraud or other issues because of this…

States are sending out the back payments as they get to them, so if you have applied and been approved for UI benefits you will eventually receive the funds (fed and state) that would’ve been dispersed to you beginning when your state started the program until when you first received any actual UI benefit payment. I have yet to receive any of my back pay, however I know dozens of people who have received their retroactive payment prior to/concurrent with the deposit of their first unemployment benefit payment. They say it will come eventually, they’ve just been backlogged with so many applicants… Here’s to hoping!

    • Samies. My bf finally became eligible for the 13 week extension. He was able to claim 8 backdated weeks (3 on 5/29 & 5 on 5/30). On Monday 6/1, he received all 8 weeks of the weekly benefit rate, but only 3 weeks of the $600 FPUC payments when he should have gotten the full 8 weeks just like he did with the other payments. Why is this happening? Will he receive the other 5 weeks that he already claimed for? I’m seeing so many comments from people whose $600 just randomly stopped.. I’m just hoping this isn’t the case ='(

  46. NJ here… Have received several Regular UNemploymemt payments and several $600 payments but nothing retroactive allthough my balance compared to what I started with reflects back payments… I did have issues with DD but that has been resolved. I started getting weekly payments every week on 5/13 but no retroactive payments6 yet in NJ. Received email confirmation for the one retroactive payment but it never got to my bank or state debit card. Any insight on NJ retroactive payments?

  47. In Nevada over 67,000 self employed, gig worker, eic… have not received a dime despite the governor’s promise to pay out 72 hours after filing.it has been 12 days since the initial filing of may 16th and no pay….LIES… the site is a site from hell with insane gliches and claim issue codes no one understands.

come election day every single one of the self employed should vote for the opposite party.hurt them where it counts, the way they hurt us. we should all start filing class action law suits.every one should also contact the white house and let them know they are stealing our money and livelihoods. I have and continue to make noise.crooked politicians understand threats not patience and cooperation.Hopefully KARMA will also bite every one of their asses severely.scum of the earth yo!I AM LIVID AND EVERY ONE SHOULD BE….RISE UP AND TAKE ACTION FALLEN FIGHTERS.!

    • I have received up to 5 payments including the extra 600. But for the last few weeks. I haven’t received any payments. I have confirmation numbers due to my weekly files but no money has been applied to my account the last few weeks. What’s going on??

    • Exactly, every voter should abandon party line voting and start thinking for themselves. When one party screws up from state level on up, vote for the person, not by party. Why does anyone vote party line only, it makes no sense at all, be an independent and stop being a pawn for the political parties BS.

    • NY here. My claim sat in Pending status since early March. I contacted Sen. Schumer’s office and they said they would look into it and follow up as necessary. No follow up…NOTHING. I contacted Sen. Fred Akskar’s office and within one week I received a call from the DOL and my claim benefits were just released for nearly 7k. All of this after placing hundreds of calls to the DOL toll free number and being repeatedly told that I couldn’t speak to a rep due to high caller volume. Raise hell with your elected officials and don’t stop until you get what’s legally yours.

  48. I live inNJ and am self employed, I just got my first deposit of the 231 for 3 weeks minus taxes 208 but did not receive retroactive for the 600 on those 3 weeks , no one to ask questions here whereas everyone knows there is not really anyone to talk too . That message please call on another business day will happen every time . I contacted NJ congress to push my status and believed it worked

    • I’m in the same boat as you an the same has happened to me where I had gotten my first 4 regular payments of $208 at once but no $600 then the following week I did my claim on Wednesday then Friday just $208 no $600 yet until Tuesday this week all of a sudden $3000 at once. So give it another week Bud an hang in there cause it was nice getting a nice lump sum like that at once. Now hopefully it all starts to come at the same time as the regular benefits or atleast in the same week as the claim cause that was getting really stressful every week wondering where my money was.

    • Im in Florida I got two weeks of $600 with (no back pay or first week) but it hit my account the exact same time both weeks. Then memorial day landed in the same time as my a PUA pay date, thought it would only be a delay bc of the holiday. I went two weeks did my unemployment fill out (which the day had changed from Monday to Wednesday when I filled it out. Got unemployment following day, and the next day my 600 but nothing the following two weeks. I have read any and all materials provided on UI and anything I could find related. I emailed a couple of offices I thought could at least steer me in the right direction. Zero help and I have hours invested in hold and being told no talk to this person or this department. I want ONE PERSON who can say something other than I don’t know. I want to speak to someone and get some type of answer. people are relying on this money to pay bills especially single parents and telling bill collectors I don’t know is going to go very far. If anyone finds a good number for FL please share and i we will do the same!! Thank you.
