Tax return processing and refund payments continue to be bumpy this year given IRS budget cuts and introduction of several tax changes under Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill.
With over 160 million returns expected to be filed this tax season, many tax filers can expect processing delays beyond the standard guidelines shown below. The good news is refunds are expected to be larger.
When Can I Expect My Tax Refund?
According to the IRS refunds will generally be paid within 21 days. This includes accepting, processing and disbursing approved refund payments via direct deposit or check. This is regular days, not business days.
This was the basis for the estimated IRS refund schedule/calendar shown below, which has been updated to reflect the start date of IRS tax return processing this year.
The refund processing schedule is organized by IRS’ WMR/IRS2Go processing status‘. The listed dates are just week ending estimates and your refund could be paid anytime during the week based on your IRS cycle code (see more on that in sections below).
Further, as many tax filers have found out over the last few years, actual refund payment dates could be much longer if your return is pulled for mandated PATH, additional identity fraud/security checks, special handling or manual agency reviews.

The estimated IRS refund payment dates in the chart above should not be construed as official IRS payment dates. To get the exact date of your refund payment check the IRS’ Where is My Refund (WMR) site or your IRS transcript.
How to read the IRS refund processing schedule
The estimated refund payment dates in the table above are based on past years and IRS processing guidelines. It shows the date your refund will be processed and paid based on the week your return is accepted and refund is approved by the IRS.
The federal IRS refund processing schedule is only for electronically filed returns (e-file) done thorough online tax software providers and assumes your tax return was in order. I.e accepted by the IRS via the WMR tool and status is equal to “Return Received”.
Once your tax return is successfully processed by the IRS, it will go to the “Refund Approved” status, after which it goes to refund sent when the payment is disbursed by the IRS.
Paper filed returns can take considerably longer and could take 1 to 2 weeks longer than the direct deposit payment dates.
Average IRS Refund
Based on the latest statistics from the latest tax year the IRS processed over 160 million returns with the average refund payment of $3,138. This was 1% lower than the prior year.
Why Your Refund Payment Could be Delayed
There are many reasons your tax return processing could be delayed beyond what is shown in the standard schedule above. This includes submission errors, IRS reconciliation issues or security/fraud related issues.
This is why many filers are see the “Return Processing Has Been Delayed Beyond The Normal Timeframe (Tax Topic 152)” message during tax season.
Note that as in previous years, if you claimed the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) your refund may have been delayed beyond the standard processing times due to the PATH act provisions.
This is to allow for fraud and dependent verification on these dependent related tax credits. See sections below for more on the PATH act and refund release timeline.
For those experiencing ongoing issues or delays with their refunds check out this article on “Why is it taking so long to get my refund.”
IRS Test Batches – Early Refunds
A week or two prior to the IRS officially accepting and processing tax returns, they will often run several test batches with various major tax software providers to “test” and “verify” their systems are integrating externally and processing returns correctly.
This will result in WMR status updates for a small subset of tax payers picked in these early test batches, but refunds won’t be paid until after the official IRS processing date.
Note that early refunds paid as a result of test batch processing are not the same as those via refund advance loans.
When Should Taxpayers contact the IRS?
The IRS has said that phone and walk-in representatives can only research the status of your refund if it has been 21 days or more since you filed electronically, or more than 6 weeks since you mailed your paper return or if the IRS WMR tool directs you to contact them.

Help! My WMR status bar has disappeared
As many folks have commented, the WMR tracker status bar may disappear or not be shown if your return falls under IRS review after it is received (Status Bar 1: Return Received) because additional information is needed for your return.
This can happen even if you previously checked WMR and it showed the status as “Return Received.” An explanation or instructions will be provided depending on the situation (e.g. PATH message or Tax Topic 152 as discussed below)
But don’t panic when this happens. The IRS still has your return but things are essentially on hold until the IRS gets the additional information from you to continue processing your return . You will either get directions on WMR or IRS2Go or the IRS will contact you by mail. See more in this video.
Follow the provided instructions and return any additional information ASAP to get your potential refund and reduce any further delays. Talk to your accountant, tax advocate or tax professional if you are not clear on what the IRS is asking for or you don’t get an update after 21 days.
PATH Act and Tax Topic 152
Two of the most common refund related messages showing up on the WMR tool after your tax return is submitted are the PATH message and a reference to Tax Topic 152
The PATH message on WMR/IRS2Go relates to the the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act (PATH Act of 2015) and is to notify you that the IRS is legally required to hold and further verify tax returns that include EITC or ACTC.
While the IRS can continue to process affected returns, they cannot issue refund payments until the PATH act lifts. This generally happens from mid-February. See more in this article on PATH act processing for the current tax season.

The PATH message does not mean your tax return is done and your tax refund is approved. It simply means the IRS systems have identified you are claiming the (EITC) or the (ACTC) on your tax return, and so further processing and payments related to your refund are held up for the statutory hold period (3 weeks after the start of tax season).
Once the PATH restriction is lifted, the IRS will process these returns and pay refunds per the above schedule. You may see Tax code 570 with a Notice 971 code (IRS review adjustment) if your refund is adjusted for other reasons.
When you see the “Refer to Tax Topic 152“ message it means your refund is being processed and the IRS is directing you its generic refund page for more information. There is not much you can do but wait to see if the IRS finds any issues or requires further verification of your identity or items in your tax return.
A Tax Topic 151 message simply means that you’re getting a tax offset which may result in your refund being less than you expected. The reason for this is that the federal government has “offset” or deducted monies from your tax refund to cover debts you owe other federal agencies. See this article to get more details on why your refund was offset.
You will get an official notice letter/report explaining the actual offset and adjustments to your tax return, and details on how to appeal this action – but likely it will delay you getting your refund.
While not great news, the silver lining here is that the IRS has processed your return and your adjusted refund (where applicable) should be on its way. You will see code 846 on your transcript when the refund has been issued.
What is the IRS Cycle Code on my Transcript?
While the above IRS refund schedule can give you an estimated date for you refund once approved (WMR/IRS2Go status) by the IRS, it may take a while to get there.
So some folks use their IRS tax transcript (free from your IRS account) which shows various tax processing codes and a “cycle code.” This is an eight digit number that indicates when your tax return posted to the IRS Master File (IMF).
The cycle code is updated regularly and when combined with the tax topic code, can provide insight into your tax refund status, processing stages and potential direct deposit date. You can see a deeper discussion on IRS cycle codes in this article.

If I can see current year processing details on my IRS tax transcript does it mean I am getting my refund soon?
This question comes up a lot and I have seen a few comments on this suggesting that that if you can see current tax season processing details on your (free) transcript then your refund is on the way. But this is not a factual statement.
The IRS is very clear that just being able to see processing details on your IRS transcript does not mean you will imminently be getting a refund and is among the common myths and misconceptions repeated in social media.
For the current tax season you transcript will update several times in line with your cycle code (discussed above) and IRS processing. The official IRS line is that checking the WMR or IRS2Go tool is the best and official way to check your refund status.
However I have read a number of comments here and on other tax sites saying that when WMR/IRS2Go provides limited information on the refund, your IRS transcript can be a good source to get more details. The is especially the case if your refund processing has been stuck for a while.
IRS system issues and refund delays
Every year the IRS has issues with processing returns in a timely manner and so a number of people see delays in getting their refunds or updates in the status of their refund on the WMR tool/app.
The IRS has said most system processing issues have now been resolved and new funding will be used to upgrade systems.
But given the various legacy systems in place and sheer volume of processing to be done, including prior season backlogs of paper and amended returns, I would not be surprised to see system issues arise again this year, which mean more delays in processing and paying refunds. See more around processing delays in this video.
See these articles for average refund amounts in past tax seasons and refund processing times by state
Amended Tax Return Refund Schedule
While the IRS promises to have regular return refunds processed within 21 days for nine out of ten tax payers, it does take quite a bit longer to receive a refund if you amended your tax return.
Generally you will have to wait up to 16 weeks more for the IRS to process amended returns since they prioritize regular returns. Also note that the standard”Where’s my refund” service from the IRS does not track amended tax return status’. You need to instead use the IRS tool, “Where’s My Amended Return.”
You can also access the tool via phone by calling 1-866-464-2050. Only call the IRS to follow up on delayed amended return refunds after 12 weeks. The number to call is 1-800-829-1040.
Q: How long does it take to get a tax refund in 2026?
A: The IRS issues most refunds within 21 calendar days of accepting your return — not business days. The fastest way to receive your refund is to e-file your return and choose direct deposit. Paper returns take 4 to 8 weeks. If your return requires additional review or you claimed the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC), your refund may take longer.
Q: When will I get my 2026 tax refund if I filed electronically?
A: If you e-filed and selected direct deposit, you can generally expect your refund within 10 to 21 days of the IRS accepting your return. The IRS began accepting 2026 returns on January 26, 2026. Filers who submitted on or around that date can expect deposits around February 13 to February 16, assuming no issues with their return.
Q: What is the PATH Act and how does it affect my refund?
A: The Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act requires the IRS to hold refunds for filers claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) until at least mid-February. In 2026, the IRS confirmed it will lift the PATH Act hold and begin updating refund statuses on WMR and IRS2Go by February 21, 2026. Most PATH-held refunds will be deposited by March 2, 2026 for those who chose direct deposit with no other issues on their return.
Q: How do I check my IRS refund status?
A: The best way is to use the IRS “Where’s My Refund?” (WMR) tool at irs.gov/refunds or the IRS2Go mobile app. WMR updates once daily, usually overnight. You can check your status 24 hours after e-filing or 4 weeks after mailing a paper return. You will need your Social Security number, filing status, and exact refund amount to look up your status. You can also call the IRS refund hotline at 1-800-829-1954, though wait times are typically long during tax season.
Q: What does Tax Topic 152 mean?
A: Tax Topic 152 is a generic IRS reference code that simply means your refund is being processed and may take longer than 21 days. It is not a red flag or audit indicator — it appears on WMR for many standard returns and usually resolves on its own. It does not mean anything is wrong with your return.
Q: What is an IRS cycle code and what does it mean?
A: An IRS cycle code is an 8-digit number that appears on your tax transcript and indicates when your return posted to the IRS Master File. The first 4 digits are the tax year, the next 2 are the week of the year, and the last 2 digits indicate the day of the week your return was processed (01=Monday through 05=Friday). Combined with transaction codes on your transcript, your cycle code can give you a more precise estimate of your direct deposit date than WMR alone.
Q: Why is my refund taking longer than 21 days?
A: Several factors can delay a refund beyond 21 days: filing a paper return instead of e-filing, claiming the EITC or ACTC (PATH Act hold), errors or incomplete information on your return, identity verification requirements, an offset to pay a federal or state debt, or your return being selected for additional review. If it has been more than 21 days since e-filing or 6 weeks since mailing a paper return, you can call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040.
Q: Will I still receive a paper check refund in 2026?
A: In most cases no. Under Executive Order 14247, the IRS phased out paper refund checks effective September 30, 2025. For the 2026 tax season, the vast majority of filers must provide bank routing and account numbers to receive their refund via direct deposit. Limited exceptions exist for taxpayers without access to banking services. If your direct deposit is rejected by your bank, the IRS will freeze the refund and send a CP53E notice — you then have 30 days to provide updated bank details or the IRS will issue a paper check after 6 weeks.
Q: Can I use my IRS transcript to find my refund date?
A: Your transcript can provide more detail than WMR in some cases, but the IRS is clear that seeing processing details on your transcript does not guarantee your refund is imminent. Code 846 (Refund Issued) on your transcript with a current or future date is the best indicator that your refund has been approved and a deposit date is set. The official IRS guidance is to use WMR or IRS2Go as your primary refund status tool.
Q: What is the difference between my refund being accepted versus approved?
A: Accepted means the IRS has received your return and it has passed initial checks — this happens quickly, often within 24 hours of e-filing. Approved means the IRS has finished processing your return, verified your information, and confirmed the refund amount. Your deposit is scheduled only after your return is approved. WMR will show “Return Received,” then “Refund Approved,” then “Refund Sent” as your return moves through these stages.

Iam starting to get a little aggravated as to why do not have a expected date for my return …I filed 2/27 and was excepted the same day ..and now I have 5 days left till my 21 days are up and it still says that its still processing after 16 days u think u would atleast have an expected day when to recieve it I have no bars I do know it was recieved and it was excepted but why can’t I get a date here this is bull

What number so you call? I’ve waited 25 days now but I can’t get anyone on the phone. Maybe I have the wrong number.
See this article for some useful numbers and approaches.

Iam just looking for an answer I know they have been recieved and also accepted but no bars and says still processing a date will be provided when available but as I can see several people are having the same problem I just want my money everybody that works there Butts off are always anxious this time of year but now this is getting rediculous here I’ve seen people like some of my family member get there’s in like 10 days and here iam still waiting for a date

I haven’t got my Federal and State too. I filed January 30th. Now, I have a DDD which is today 3/15/17.
Q- Does it means I will get both – the federal and the state?? Does anyone knows?
Thanks
State refund dates are different from federal dates. Check your local state WMR site per this article – https://savingtoinvest.com/average-irs-and-state-tax-refund-and-processing-times/
Thanks for the info’s
I called them and they say it takes 3 month to process it. Now it’s been a month -1/2
Pros: federal ddd is today
Con: state still in process.
I filed my return on February 15th. I received my state refund 2 weeks ago & still haven’t gotten my federal. I checked the WMR tool and it still says that it’s being processed
Mine was accepted on Feb 14. I got both of my state refunds within a week, but it’s now March 16 and my federal return is “still processing” with no projected refund date.
I’ve about had it! I filed 1/20 was accepted 1/23 and here it is 3/15 and it still says it’s being processed! I even talked to the bank and they said that there wasn’t a hold on my account and I still have to wait until 3/17 to call the IRS again! This is just nuts! My son sent his in 1/30 and got his back by 2/16. No, neither of us filed any different as we usually do so there is a problem somewhere! When I talked to the IRS they told me that I wasn’t going to get a letter or anything just to “be patient” processing is taking longer than it should. This is just nuts!!!
See the comments on this article and some tips to help you (or at least make you feel a little better). https://savingtoinvest.com/people-seeing-tax-returns-and-refunds-being-processed-and-accepted/
If u report all source of your incomes n personal information correctly, there nothing to worry. There only one reason your refund delay because the IRS didn’t have enough staffs.
When you receive a 4464c letter, does it really that the entire 60 days to get refund information, will I receive my refund within the 60 days of the letter which was 2/22 I file 2/13 and got accepted by IRS 2/13
I got accepted on 2/09/17 and was told the same thing was supposed to get that letter on 3/13/17 but I got a ddd date on 3/11/17 and it was deposited today which was my ddd so hang in there because I never had any war bars until 3/11/17 and was told to wait 60 days from which the letter date was received
Thanks for the info hopefully I’ll get a date soon
Please someone know the phone IRS?

Return was e-filed with TurboTax and accepted Feb 8th. Have not received an update as of March 14th. The IRS site still says “your tax return is still being processed, a refund date will be provided when available.” On March 10th, I called a number that actually connected me with a real person at the IRS and after a vigorous verification process ( tax returns have multiple addresses because I’ve lived many places) they still couldn’t tell me what was taking so long to complete my processing. No letter, no anything.
I’m dealing with the same issue filed February 1st. I was told my return was accepted by the IRS around February 18th or so. Now it’s saying “your return is being processed.” This is absolutely absurd to do to the American people.
I am same Filed on TurboTax 2/10 w/EiC and it always shows still processing. We called right before spring break I think on 3/10 and got pushed around on the phone finally they said their processing server was down when we filed and it is corrected and being processed now. Then gave the same response they always give which is wait 30 days to call again and it can take another 60 days………Needless to say it still says processing and no date given. We got no letter and they said nothing was wrong with the return even talked to fraud dept to make sure. Am I ever going to see this money?
Hi Alfred, our submission dates are almost the same (2/4) and I haven’t received my refund either. We haven’t made any changes…same home, same jobs, same kids…but no sign of our refund yet. I guess I’ll call tomorrow since it’s way overdue. Good luck!
I filed on 1/27/2017 recvd a letter early Feb stating they are going to review more haven’t heard anything no letters after that or anything my APP says We have recvd your return and it is still being processed. OMG its so frustrating I just want this money im so behind on everything anyone going through the same ?
I’m going through the same thing. My refund was processed and accepted 1/29 and I even received my state taxes 2/22 but still waiting on federal with the same status on my wmr “we have received your tax return and it is being processed” called today to find out that a letter was sent I never received that said that my refund was being held for up to 60 days. I am so upset. I need my money.
Did the letter tell you why there was a 60 day additional wait? I have NOT received any letters.
Did my taxes and they were accepted on February 2nd got my Federal refund back already but still dont have the State all it says is its being reviewed no further information.
E-file 2/9 irs accepted 2/9 called irs 2/28 letter being sent out 3/13 call back then. So I called irs again and was as sweet as sugar. Got a tax advocate the next day. 3/7 told I should see my refund before the 28th. Wmr had one bar until this Friday now it’s say processing date will be available soon… WTF does that mean… This single mom is about to snap.
Going to 7 weeks and state have not been recieved all im saying im paying double in New York Tax And they are quick to take my money on my week check but to Return a little bit of everything state takes away from my pocket takes ever This is Some Bullshit.
so the schedule above is only estimate. Mine was a week off. Accepted 2/23 and this past Saturday 3/11 it changed to Aproved! DD date 3/15 so it was a whole 21 days for me! Had both credits. Good luck to all!
My return was accepted on Jan 17th…I did have an EIC, but my wmr still remains “being processed.” I have not received any notices, or letters about there being any issues, or requesting more info from me.
If you have not called them you might want to. I filed 1/23 bars disappeared 2/4 and changed to still being processed. Called 2/13 at 21 days and was told I needed to verify id in office she sent me out a letter while I was on hold. If I wouldn’t have called I would have never known that I was flagged for identity theft. I’ve seen many other people that haven’t gotten the identity letters until they call in.
Mine was the same as your. Received on Feb 22 snd approved on the 23rd of Feb. Irs eheres my refund didnt upload to give me a date yet or to say anything. All it says is still processing. I filed through turbo tax and they gave me a date but i no you have to go by the irs website… Irs i filr the same every year. Whats going in?
As always we middle class gets affected from every single angle.
I also filed eith turbo tax. They gave me a date for today March 15th and called irs and thry said my 21 days was friday. I dont no how when my return was avcepted the same day. Went to irs website and there are no bars just stating still processing.. What kind of mess is this. We pay taxes but when its our time to get our money they hold it up without telling us anything..
I filed my taxes on 1/25 check on where’s my refund an it was being processed with topic 152 I went back few weeks later it saying process and 152 topic gone so after that it was 32 days so I finally called they said they sent a letter still haven’t received one I called back they don’t worry about the letter I’m so pissed it’s now March and still no answer I need help I don’t know what too do they telling me something different everytime I call
I electronically filed the 27th of jan accepted the 29th. Nothing till letter came saying call to verifying identity. I called and answered specific private questions only i would know. they said it was great and they would process it. I called back when no change. I spoke to a woman that said the first woman didnt verify correctly and id recieve another letter. I called back again and they said the second lady was wrong and it was verified correctly and id get a letter after the 13th of march. I recieved it and it said i have to just do nothing and wait till april 27th now. It states after that ill get a check or another letter.
It seems to me they have their heads up their butts and are trying to just buy time because we dont have the man power or smarts working for the irs. So two letters and three people spoken to and all its saying is wait. It really dies suck that nothing can be done about it.
Filed my taxed on 2/3. Was unaware that my husband still had his health insurance after we had canceled it the year prior, but it was valid until mid year 2016 without our knowledge. The refund bar disappeared like 2/20 or so. Received letter on 2/24 asking for 1095 A form and 8962 form. Faxed it on 2/25 with the accounting firm that I had originally done my taxes with. Was told it would take 6-8 weeks for refund. As of 3/11 the topic152 link appeared and the amount that was originally stated there disappeared, wasn’t like that on 3/10. There is no bar just says it is still process. Does anyone know how long after that did they get their refund?
Same situation for me. Beenow a week now since I sent the fax and still nothing.
I filed 2/13 got accepted 2/13 I had one bar and the tax topic 152, received a letter from IRS dated 2/22 waited my 21 days out called IRS they said they received my refund and it is being reviewed and there is nothing I need to do at this time, and to give them 60 days from the day the letter was dated to continue the reviewed… when I check WMR it’s just says refund received and is be processed and it shows my refund amount, status, and what I claimed…
I filed feb23 got accepted feb23, had to verify id I did that March17 I called today they said my refund is under review and give it 60 days from the day the letter was dated. Smh this is crazy. Did anyone have to wait the whole 60days?
Ferufnd received 3/2 approved 3/11 with the ddd 3/15 !
It been over 21 days an I still don’t have my refund
I’ve been waiting on a letter also but I finally got bars when it updated last night! Accepted and approved! I have a dd date of March 15th!
Me too
Same no letter ever came they probably finally figured out we had nothing to send since provided correct info DDD 3/15 too
My return was accepted on February 1st and I have not received anything, no messages, no letters. I filed on turbo tax.
I filed 2/13, on 2/14 it read “received ” since then the irs work has been in “pending” status basically! I have NEVER experienced a delay. Nothing’s change about my info expect a damn job!! New president new rules and now the “working poor” which use to be “middle class” get screwed!!!!!!! No letter, just nothing. Way past 21 days.. it’s been 30 days now. wtf
Same here, filed 1/12 received 1/24 and it is STILL saying being processed…..been well over a month now….. this is BEYOND stupid and i am so far past pissed that i am now just numb wondering if i will EVER have my money………. glad im not alone in this but wish everyone was not going through this mess!!!!!! *Sigh*
WMR said my refund was sent to my bank March 8th. 3 days later is said my entire refund was offset and I will receive a letter. I though this usually happens BEFORE it says sent to bank. So Sad right now.. Anyone else?

My WMR finally changed today from “We have received your return and it is being processed.” To Refund will be deposited 3/15! I’m so grateful for this message board, it’s been like a support group. Hello,
I filed my return on 2/22 and my return was accepted by the IRS on 2/22 with Tax Topic 152. My WMR path/bar has been on “RETURN RECEIVED” since 2/22 with absolutely no changes. It’ll be 21 days in 3/15. Just wondering if anyone has any insight on this…thank you.
I am in the same boat..i return got accepted on the1/30 still didnt get any info about dd..i am so upset
Have you called the IRS
Call the offset hotline
Hello… My said the same thing “still processing” for exactly 21 days to the day. And finally the bars showed back up with my DDD. So hang in there.
My return was received the same day as yours and I had the same Tax Topic 152. Mine is still showing “Return Received” and being processed. I am hoping we will have it by the end of the week.
Used turbo tax….Filed and accepted on February 2….. I called turbo tax and IRS yesterday and they both said the it’s the EIC delay and just keep waiting. Today mail came and it was a letter from IRS to verify my identity. I called and took care of everything…Lady says I’m good to go. However she also said it can be another 9 weeks. Yes bills are still being paid and I know I shouldn’t count on it but I need to get my new glasses. Mine been taped up for 3 weeks now!
For those who had to verify their identity…. How long did it take you to get ur return?
I had to verify my identity as well .I was also told it could take an additional 9 weeks, this is just crazy making us wait longer when we have been identified.
Filed my taxes through TurboTax mid Jan, had both state and Federal refunds back before end of Jan. Filed my sons the same way, had to file and amended federal return because he got a w2 for a short job we forgot he had and he got his direct deposit AND his paper federal correction amount check by mid-Feb. My fiance on the other hand….filed his taxes Feb 4 with TT, was rejected once because of a typo so I fixed if and it was accepted the next day. He got his state refund a week and a half later…..but here it is March 10th and all the WRM app keeps saying is that his return is “being processed”. No code, nothing. Hes getting frustrated and so am I.
I filed on Jan 28…I don’t have any messages or codes. It just says “Being processed” Not sure what to do???? It’s 3-15-17! WHERE’S MY REFUND!!!
I received that letter where I have verify who I am as well. So I called and verified who I was March 1 and I asked why do I have to verify who I am because I had to submit stuff for them to continue processing my amended return for 2015. The young lady told me that I was randomly selected and that everyone does not have to verify who they are. But we did the verification process and I was good to go and that I should receive my return soon. Well I still have not received it. So I called this morning and a nice gentleman by the name of Gary told me that my federal taxes was received and then placed on hold until I verified who I was. When I called and verified and passed verification, my refund began processing. So now I have to wait up to an additional 9 weeks before I receive my refund.
In all honesty, the IRS does not care about rent that needs to be paid or any other bills. The IRS does not care that you are homeless or anything else. It is sad that it has come to this because people are out their committing fraud on their taxes and the rest of us honest people have to suffer because of their actions. I served my country for 12 years before being medically discharged due to injury. I worked hard for my money and I pay my taxes. We honest should not have to go through this!
Any change with 1541 people yet?
Mine is still delayed. Four weeks and counting…
Mine says refund sent(direct deposit) but it’s not in my account? My bank says I should contact the issuer….but the “where’s my refund” website says contact your bank… what should i do?
I filed my refund through turbotax and my refund was accepted by the IRS on 1/28/2017, I received a letter in the mail February 14th from the IRS asking for forms 1095-a and 8962. I mailed them out the next day. I called the IRS a few days ago to see what’s taking so long as it’s now March 9th and they could not even tell me if they received the forms or not. They did however tell me that the WMR tool will never change until the date I get my refund under this situation. They told me that there is nothing they can’t even research what is going on with my refund until 8 weeks has passed if I still have not gotten it. I feel like I’m in Limbo.
This happened to me last year, and turbo tax assured me that this year it would not be an issue and it will all be attached to the return filed electronically. which it seems this year i did not have this issue. But last year the irs suggested when I spoke to them on the phone that to fax it only with the letter. I suggest you call and get a tax advocate and have them check for you. Dont fax it now until you know from the advocate that it is not there.. My son’s is in the same wait like you. His 1095A was incorrect so we entered the info the correct way and called marketplace to send an amended one to the irs. They had it stated he had marketplace insurance longer than he did so we could not show the tax credit for those months or it would of came back as more refund in his case which they down the road would of caught. so now the consequence of doing it correctly is wait on still a letter which you did get but he has not yet! Hope your processes soon and refund is sent.
My preparer filed my.taxes electronically on febuary 24 wmr shows me nothing at all anyone experience this issue? Hopefuly trump abolishes the irs they are long over due for departure!
My preparer filed mine on Feb.20 and I have yet to receive an anything. Not even a received msg
Same. We filed on the 24th, received on the 25th and still nothing. We’re doing direct deposit as well.
Yes, I am having the same issue. I filed mine on Feb 22 still nothing, no bar keeps saying your tax return is still being processed. Turbo tax says it has been accepted, but nothing on WMR site.
I filed my taxes 2/17 with HRBlock.com, with direct deposit for my refund. As of 2/18 they were showing as accepted on the HRBlock website. I checked a few days later on the WMR site, it said processing, no bars, nothing else. It has been that way ever since. It is 21 days today, nothing. :(
Does it really take six weeks after you do the identity verification to receive refund or has any got there’s sooner also i still haven’t received my state refund either and I filed in Jan.
No my niece got it back sooner
I called the IRS international number as I am currently in Mexico City. I’m actually stranded here and without any money. The IRS accepted my return on 1/17. My WMR has said “We have received your refund and it is being processed,” since 2/15. I did have the EIC so I’m aware refunds weren’t to be received till the week of 2/27. The representative said I should have received a 4464c letter in the mail last week. I have not. My housemates have been checking for me. He also said no action is needed an my return looks fine. I asked to be referred to a Tax Advocate for a 911 situation. He did so and was very thorough and helpful. I should be hearing from an advocate in the next few days. I’ll keep you all posted. Fingers crossed for everyone to get the money they need in the time they need.
I filed on 1/20 excepted 1/23. Called IRS was told no letters or anything due to be sent out. Was told to wait until 3/17 to call back if there was no change. WMR still continues to saywe have received your return and it’s being processed. I’m so over this mess!
I filed and it was received and accepted on Jan 17th. It’s now march 9th and still nothing. Says it’s still processing. I called and talked to an IRS rep. And they said there was a system error on their end. Nothing wrong with return and can take up to 8 weeks to fix itself. But no action can be taken until then which will be April 19th. It’s 8 weeks from when the error occurred which was on feb 22nd.
Filed electronic. Had to do a 8962 faxed on feb.28 still nothing. How can i find out whsts goin on been over 21dys.
We are in same boat called IRS and they told us 6-8 weeks for update.
You can call the IRS 1800 # ending in 1040 and talk to a rep and the will let you know if the. 8962 form corrected your return. And from the date it was corrected it will take up to 8 weeks for your return to finish getting processed. They say its usually not that long. I just had the same problem and sent the correct paperwork back to them on Feb 15th and it got corrected by the IRS march 8th which was yesterday. Im hoping its not a 8 week wait. If I don’t recieve my return my may 3rd. The IRS said to call back. We’ll see fingers crossed. Hope this was helpful.
Got dd date 3/15. Had to fill out forms and fax as well. Faxed back on 2/22/17.
I had smart thing happen and faxed mine back on Feb 14 it finally says received and being processed but as of today 3-16 still nothing
Filed on January 28th got accepted on January 29th, WMR says your refund is still being processed a refund date will be provided when available since. I called the irs to speak with a representative and was told its under review and to call back if i haven’t received my refund by April 4th. No further explanation was provided and im really frustrated.
You should call a tax advocate. See this article for more information – > https://savingtoinvest.com/contact-a-tax-advocate-to-help-get-your-refund-released-from-the-irs/
I filed 1-17 was accepted 1-23 I went through Hr block online . I do have an offset from school got my state back three days after I filed but… The one and only message I got for my federal is received and its being processed. .. Im confused frustrated and homeless now can anyone help ?
UPDATE :
Filed Feb 20 accepted on the 21 still no date. Only msg i get is that my refund still processing and we be provided with a date when one is available. Called irs they couldn’t provide me any information due to it not being pass 20 days.
Is anyone having this issue????
I’m having the exact same issue! Ours was filed on Feb 22nd (not sure exact accepted date) and we still have a “processing return” on our status. I’m hoping it’s a mistake and will just pop up in our account on Friday! If not, I guess I’ll be calling next week. :/
Same day same boat im waiting I filed through turbo keep me posted as well
We can’t even get a TAS rep to even listen to us. They say because we had applied for a tax advance through h&r block that they couldn’t help us. (We were denied for the advance) Now we’re about to lose everything. Why can’t they help us? Was that rep lying? Is there anything else we can do?
UPDATE:
Called Tax advocate today, because last wed when I called they told me to wait until Monday to call back for an update. I waited until today and then called…she looked up the status of my case created for me on last week, and told me that the IRS had already responded to my case yesterday, and removed my hold this morning and inserted the code for the deposit (846) THIS MORNING AS WELL!!! She said it takes about 4 to 5 business days for WMR to update with date after code has been inputted..by next wed I should have a date (or money) and stated to call just to follow up! I pray all goes well!!!
Hi joana works did u have to show proof of hardship
Has anyone with the status delayed 1541 received a refund yet???? I’m getting so tired of waiting with no answer from the IRS!
I filed 1/26 got a message 2/18 with code 1541 call the first time and I was told nothing was wrong called a second time and was told I was under review and should be receiving a letter and it’s now March 8 and still no letter
I would say at this point call the tax advocate help line..they can get you a case Worker that can research your refund instead of waiting ..they tried to tell me wait tell MAY 5th because of a bulmshit reveiw! I told them your crazy I have 3kids depending on that refund and rent..ect.so basically if you prove you have a hardship..dissconection notice.or eviction* and explain to them(the tax advocates) they can help..im waiting on a call tm..hopefully I’ll see a return this month..but gd luck..(everyone is getting held for review

Finally got a refund 3/7… goodluck to everyone.
Get lost.
**Update:
Filed Feb.6th accepted Feb.7th. Website said its approved my return and ddd Feb.27th. I contacted the irs and they said nothing was wrong. Finally got a letter in the mail Monday stating I didn’t file form 1040 for 2014 tax return. I am assuming that is the hold up. I filed my 1040 for 2014 Feb.6th but had to mail it in, which takes longer.
Hope this helps.
I am going through the same thing, only its my 2013 they are waiting for. I was able to fax in my 2013 though since I mailed my initial 2013 1040 to the wrong IRS address. I would call and see if they accept a fax for your return. I was told that as soon as they see I don’t owe anything on my 2013 they will immediately(the IRS’ version of immediately) release my 2016 deposit. The fax takes 5-7 for them to receive, mailed in can take 6 to 12 weeks for processing.
How do I know if they accept a fax. I sent mine in Feb. 6th. If I already sent it in so i need to fill that paper out or just wait 4 them to notify me
You should have received a CP63 letter. There is a number in the right upper corner of the paper that has a number to call. I am not sure if the number is the same for everyone but since your issue is like mine, this is the number they gave me 1-866-897-3315. The rep was nice and helpful. HOWEVER, I was on hold for over 2 hours. You have to ASK them what you want to know, they will not give you information.
Hi Im having the same issue. I received 2 different notices to provide my 2013 tax returns after I mailed them I noticed both notices had different addresses to mail my return to. I called and was told either address will work but they still arent showing that they’ve received my return and its been several weeks now. Do you still have the fax number you used? Have yoy received your refund as of yet? Thanks!!
Does anyone status still says it’s delayed and reference number 1541?
Yes mine does it has said it has said it for five days now I’m super stressed I too would like to know the problem it has only been 8 days not enough to contact them yet but I don’t owe any money so that’s not it
Mines says the same I filed on Feb. 2nd accepted on the same day & still a delay in my refund, I’ve called the IRS multiple times & was told different things. First that yes I am under review & on a 60 day hold & a lettter will be sent out. Still no letter. Then I call today I’m told no action is required on my behalf it’s just a delay & I’ll get a generic letter in the mail stating it’s a delay in my refund no dd date as of yet. This is very frustrating to say the least.
Yes
Yes and I did mine Feb 24th still haven’t got them and they just keep saying they are delayed
Yes, still no letter on my end. I honestly think the irs spent the random people money for something and is stalling payment because they the government.
Has anybody had to fill out an 8962 form and got their federal yet? Or something saying they received the fax?
Its been 4 weeks and i still having received my refund…when i check my status its says its been received and its beening process…. Please help
I did a 1040x file on the 1/31/2017 then did a paper file do anyone know if I had to resend my w2s in the first time I sent them though TurboTax?
I filed my taxes January 27, 2017 received federal Feb 21st my state says still processing. I didn’t work therefore didn’t file last year, could this be the delay!! I spoke to representative last Thursday that said it’s approved and should be out the door anyday!! Still nothing!! I have dd on netspend!! The website says still processing!! I’m so confused
So I received a letter today telling me that mine is being looked at should recieve by April 27th? We had to fax a bunch of stuff on February 3rd and that letter came in today? Has anyone else had this happen to them?
Has this happened to any of u?
