By all reports tax return processing and refund payments for the 2024 tax season are going much smoother thanks to IRS investments in technology and no new stimulus payments or tax credits to administer. However further security controls and PATH act restrictions (see below) could delay potential refund payments for some filers.
When Can I Expect My Tax Refund in 2024?
According to the IRS refunds will generally be paid within 21 days. This includes accepting, processing and disbursing approved refund payments via direct deposit or check. This is regular days, not business days.
This was the basis for the estimated 2024 IRS refund schedule/calendar shown below, which has been updated to reflect the Jan 29th, 2024 start date of IRS tax return processing this year.
The refund processing schedule is organized by IRS’ WMR/IRS2Go processing status‘. The listed dates are just week ending estimates and your refund could be paid anytime during the week based on your IRS cycle code (see more on that in sections below).
Further, as many tax filers have found out over the last few years, actual refund payment dates could be much longer if your return is pulled for mandated PATH, additional identity fraud/security checks, special handling or manual agency reviews.

The estimated IRS refund payment dates in the chart above should not be construed as official IRS payment dates. To get the exact date of your refund payment check the IRS’ Where is My Refund (WMR) site or your IRS transcript.
How to read the IRS refund processing schedule
The estimated refund payment dates in the table above are based on past years and IRS processing guidelines. It shows the date your refund will be processed and paid based on the week your return is accepted and refund is approved by the IRS.
The federal IRS refund processing schedule is only for electronically filed returns (e-file) done thorough online tax software providers and assumes your tax return was in order. I.e accepted by the IRS via the WMR tool and status is equal to “Return Received”.
Once your tax return is successfully processed by the IRS, it will go to the “Refund Approved” status, after which it goes to refund sent when the payment is disbursed by the IRS.
Paper filed returns can take considerably longer and could take 1 to 2 weeks longer than the direct deposit payment dates.
Average IRS Refund
Based on the latest statistics from the 2023 tax year the IRS processed over 160 million returns with the average refund payment being $3,089. This was 5% lower than the prior year.
Why Your Refund Payment Could be Delayed
There are many reasons your tax return processing could be delayed beyond what is shown in the standard schedule above. This includes submission errors, IRS reconciliation issues or security/fraud related issues.
This is why many filers are see the “Return Processing Has Been Delayed Beyond The Normal Timeframe (Tax Topic 152)” message during tax season.
Note that as in previous years, if you claimed the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) your refund may have been delayed beyond the standard processing times due to the PATH act provisions.
This is to allow for fraud and dependent verification on these dependent related tax credits. See sections below for more on the PATH act and refund release timeline.
For those experiencing ongoing issues or delays with their refunds check out this article on “Why is it taking so long to get my refund.”
IRS Test Batches – Early Refunds
A week or two prior to the IRS officially accepting and processing tax returns, they will often run several test batches with various major tax software providers to “test” and “verify” their systems are integrating externally and processing returns correctly.
This will result in WMR status updates for a small subset of tax payers picked in these early test batches, but refunds won’t be paid until after the official IRS processing date.
Note that early refunds paid as a result of test batch processing are not the same as those via refund advance loans.
When Should Taxpayers contact the IRS?
The IRS has said that phone and walk-in representatives can only research the status of your refund if it has been 21 days or more since you filed electronically, or more than 6 weeks since you mailed your paper return or if the IRS WMR tool directs you to contact them.
You can also see earlier updates from prior tax seasons and the thousands of comments below this article around dealing with delayed tax refund processing issues!
So stay tuned and subscribe to get the latest updates and helpful articles for the upcoming tax season. I also post regular Youtube video updates on tax related topics.
Help! My WMR status bar has disappeared
As many folks have commented, the WMR tracker status bar may disappear or not be shown if your return falls under IRS review after it is received (Status Bar 1: Return Received) because additional information is needed for your return.
This can happen even if you previously checked WMR and it showed the status as “Return Received.” An explanation or instructions will be provided depending on the situation (e.g. PATH message or Tax Topic 152 as discussed below)
But don’t panic when this happens. The IRS still has your return but things are essentially on hold until the IRS gets the additional information from you to continue processing your return . You will either get directions on WMR or IRS2Go or the IRS will contact you by mail. See more in this video.
Follow the provided instructions and return any additional information ASAP to get your potential refund and reduce any further delays. Talk to your accountant, tax advocate or tax professional if you are not clear on what the IRS is asking for or you don’t get an update after 21 days.
PATH Act and Tax Topic 152
Two of the most common refund related messages showing up on the WMR tool after your tax return is submitted are the PATH message and to Refer to Tax Topic 152.
The PATH message on WMR/IRS2Go relates to the the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act (PATH Act of 2015) and is to notify you that the IRS is legally required to hold and further verify tax returns that include EITC or ACTC.
While the IRS can continue to process affected returns, they cannot issue refund payments until the PATH act lifts. This generally happens from mid-February. See more in this article on PATH act processing for the current tax season.
The PATH message does not mean your tax return is done and your tax refund is approved. It simply means the IRS systems have identified you are claiming the (EITC) or the (ACTC) on your tax return, and so further processing and payments related to your refund are held up for the statutory hold period (3 weeks after the start of tax season).
Once the PATH restriction is lifted, the IRS will process these returns and pay refunds per the above schedule. You may see Tax code 570 with a Notice 971 code (IRS review adjustment) if your refund is adjusted for other reasons.
When you see the “Refer to Tax Topic 152“ message it means your refund is being processed and the IRS is directing you its generic refund page for more information. There is not much you can do but wait to see if the IRS finds any issues or requires further verification of your identity or items in your tax return.
A Tax Topic 151 message simply means that you’re getting a tax offset which may result in your refund being less than you expected. The reason for this is that the federal government has “offset” or deducted monies from your tax refund to cover debts you owe other federal agencies. See this article to get more details on why your refund was offset.
You will get an official notice letter/report explaining the actual offset and adjustments to your tax return, and details on how to appeal this action – but likely it will delay you getting your refund.
While not great news, the silver lining here is that the IRS has processed your return and your adjusted refund (where applicable) should be on its way. You will see code 846 on your transcript when the refund has been issued.
What is the IRS Cycle Code on my Transcript?
While the above IRS refund schedule can give you an estimated date for you refund once approved (WMR/IRS2Go status) by the IRS, it may take a while to get there.
So some folks use their IRS tax transcript (free from your IRS account) which shows various tax processing codes and a “cycle code.” This is an eight digit number that indicates when your tax return posted to the IRS Master File (IMF).
The cycle code is updated regularly and when combined with the tax topic code, can provide insight into your tax refund status, processing stages and potential direct deposit date. You can see a deeper discussion on IRS cycle codes in this article.
If I can see current year processing details on my IRS tax transcript does it mean I am getting my refund soon?
This question comes up a lot and I have seen a few comments on this suggesting that that if you can see current tax season processing details on your (free) transcript then your refund is on the way. But this is not a factual statement.
The IRS is very clear that just being able to see processing details on your IRS transcript does not mean you will imminently be getting a refund and is among the common myths and misconceptions repeated in social media.
For the current tax season you transcript will update several times in line with your cycle code (discussed above) and IRS processing. The official IRS line is that checking the WMR or IRS2Go tool is the best and official way to check your refund status.
However I have read a number of comments here and on other tax sites saying that when WMR/IRS2Go provides limited information on the refund, your IRS transcript can be a good source to get more details. The is especially the case if your refund processing has been stuck for a while.
IRS system issues and refund delays
Every year the IRS has issues with processing returns in a timely manner and so a number of people see delays in getting their refunds or updates in the status of their refund on the WMR tool/app.
The IRS has said most system processing issues have now been resolved and new funding will be used to upgrade systems.
But given the various legacy systems in place and sheer volume of processing to be done, including prior season backlogs of paper and amended returns, I would not be surprised to see system issues arise again this year, which mean more delays in processing and paying refunds. See more around processing delays in this video.
See these articles for average refund amounts in past tax seasons and refund processing times by state
Amended Tax Return Refund Schedule
While the IRS promises to have regular return refunds processed within 21 days for nine out of ten tax payers, it does take quite a bit longer to receive a refund if you amended your tax return.
Generally you will have to wait up to 16 weeks more for the IRS to process amended returns since they prioritize regular returns. Also note that the standard”Where’s my refund” service from the IRS does not track amended tax return status’. You need to instead use the IRS tool, “Where’s My Amended Return.”
You can also access the tool via phone by calling 1-866-464-2050. Only call the IRS to follow up on delayed amended return refunds after 12 weeks. The number to call is 1-800-829-1040.

Hi Kiana,
No i filed single, w2 and the opportunity credit. I called my bank to verify it because wmr said it would be sent on the 15th. It still took the full 21 days
Really Candace….I bet you don’t have EIC or ACTC? If so, CONGRATS and you are giving us hope…I am waiting on the 1st EIC to say they got a pending deposit or any movement…lol.
Lmfao no unfortunately i dont but wish i did. Smh my refunds be pitiful…it definitely took too long this year as i panicked a lot wondering if I was under an audit
Candace, I was about to award you a CROWN and ROSES and a all expense trip to the IRS to deliver a bag of ROCKS that we all collected on our PATHS…to the IRS for the 1st one to report a refund with EIC….Dang, now I have to put it back up in my closet…smh. LOL
Lmfao..i understand. No offense taken. We are all awaiting on our funds. 21 days of agony for me
Hey what if all it saying is check back after the 15th message that means approved ? Claiming kids …
F**k the irs. I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to pull a fast one on us coming up with some bs to prolong the process

Lol u think it will b there at 12
Jazzy i was accepted and approved on jan18th so would i see anything im the moring
Mike, that is the Million Dollar question…lol. Actually for the tester the 18th was the first cut off for IRS to test their system, so you just made it. So if anyone should see any movement first, it should be us, but then again we are talking about IRS, so that philosophy may go right out the window…it is too logic for IRS..lol. You are in the same batch of 201704 the 1st one…first thing in the morning, check the WMR, transcript for code 846, bank account (in any order) then here :-)
Thanks jazzy Lets hope for good news its been along ride
Jazzy. I filed Jan 12th so hoping I see movement tomm.
i talked to an irs worker and she was nice and she told me that they cant let me no anything about my tax forms until the 15th and its a very good sign that i can order my transcript so ok sucks that they cant tell us i asked her why people say they can see when they ask the irs she told me they cant pole it up only people that dont claim anything but if u do claim the path act then they cant see anything and tomorrow it doesnt mean will get money but maybe a date
Amber, that may be true that they were not allowed to pull up the PATH people return by Law; that must be what is in their script. Thats why they were vague when people tried to get more info about DDD or deposits. So, I guess we all will find out together in the morning how they going to roll this PATH thingy out….not all will see DDD by Saturday, but at least a LOT of us will…let’s just see who are the lucky ones and find out when they were accepted to figure out if they are random….
Hi jazzy. I have a question. I have filed my return on 2/8 was accepted and received same day on 2/10 I received full path message and ordered both my transcripts 2/11. I still have the full path message as we speak however I wasn’t able to view my transcripts online so I do not have access to the codes. My question is will I maybe among those that receive their refunds this week or next or will it be next month. Even though I was able to order transcripts with full path message with no bars?
Nykky, you made the cut off for the PATH….but tomorrow or Thursday that message will no longer apply to the LAW, so based on IRS once it is removed it will convert back to “processing” and DDD back on regular schedules. Where DDD are updated on Thursday, Saturday and Monday Morning for DDD wed and Friday of the following week. If processing by first in first out…then you probably want get a DDD until Saturday for the 22nd or 24th. IRS may do accelerated releases everyday to clear backlogs…
I’m still waiting too. Filed 1/31, accepted 1/31 Filed single, no kids, but I did claim EIC for myself. WMR still says, Your tax return is still being processed.
A refund date will be provided when available.
Please read the following information related to your tax situation:
Tax Topic 152, Refund Information
Nycki, call IRS in the morning…ok.
Tomorrow wouldn’t be my 21 days, and I haven’t received any letters. This is my first year claiming in a new state. I received my state 4 days after I filed.
You right, but hey call them any way and tell them the WMR instructed you to contact them and you don’t recall what they code was that will get you a answer. It works…even tho it has not been 21 days…just say I think it said I had to verify my Identification…let me know how it goes…ok.
JAZZY, so we may not get an update in the morning? I was accepted on January 23rd been about 22 days now but my transcripts are on their way in the mail.
IRS is saying they going to update on the 16th the WMR, but I think a LOT of us will see some movement in the morning. I know this jwolf…that PATH MSG better be GONE…because it does not comply anymore…IRS can officially start releasing refunds. So I would be shocked if anyone says they still have the PATH…unless IRS is going to take it down on the 16th…can’t wait to see what transpire in the morning…it will be interesting to say the least…no one really knows what to expect…eek
Hi jazzy I have question. I filed and was accepted and received 2/8/17 on 2/10 path message which is still displayed as I type. I was able to order both transcripts in mail 2/11. My question is will I fall in the same category as being still approved pending deposit within few days or weeks or would I fall in category of next month? I was unable to view my transcripts code online
Jazzy thank you so much for the info and insight! I truly hope I do get mine this week but I know it’s coming. It needed to be today. Thank you once again
Nykky, you are very welcome, I needed mines 2 weeks ago, so its been a rocky path for sure…I got holes in my shoes just walking it…smh.
JAZZY so does this mean we wont see an update in the morning? I was accepted on January 23rd like 22 days ago
jwolf for the early filers and opening week filers 23-27 should make the 1st batches starting tomorrow thru Saturday. IRS is saying the WMR will start updating on the 16th…we all know we will see pending DDD or 846 code probably before WMR update Thursday. All IRS website and articles, news releases clearly states they will be releasing refunds on the 15th. Not after…so not sure when we will see a deposit…but I think some could tomorrow and for sure on Friday…no matter what the WMR show
I filed my taxes on Jan. 23 and have only gotten my State taxes back. It’s been more than 21 days, and the WMR still says that they are being “processed” with no predicted due date. I’m not part of the pool of people that filed for EITC or ACTC so I have no idea what the delay is for!
Jennifer you should call them in the morning, they just may need to do an ID verification. It has been 21 days so that have to tell you what is the hold up. (800) 829-0582 ext. 652 or 18008291040, 1 for english then 2241 not sure if it is already 7pm your time to call them….if so, first thing in the morning try to get thru….you should not have the message “still processing”
(continued) Before Feb. 18, some taxpayers may see a projected deposit date or an intermittent message that the IRS is processing their return. What is puzzling about this news release today is the part where it says “Those who don’t get a DDD by the 18th; will get a message instead saying IRS is processing their return”?…..well anyone who had the PATH message then get it is still processing please don’t freak out…I guess it means IRS can’t do them all during this time frame…
IRS RELEASE 2-14 : ON WEBSITE:
Refund Delays – By law, the IRS must hold Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit refunds until Feb. 15. Taxpayers will begin to see refunds claiming EITC/ACTC the week of Feb. 27. “Where’s My Refund?” will update for EITC/ACTC refunds on Feb. 18 for the vast majority of early filers who claimed the EIC or the ACTC. (cont)
curious… how many in ny have rcvd state?
I just got off the phone with a very nice IRS REP she indicated that IRS WILL NOT RELEASE ANYTHING UNTIL 2.15.2017 and I did file with all the credits, I filed 1.23.2017 SHE DID SAY THAT THEY FINISHED PROCESSING IT ON 2.13.17 BUT I WON’T GET MY REFUND TILL AFTER 2.15 DUE TO THE PATH MESSAGE.
she didn’t want to provide any further information
So I’m guessing and hoping for a dd date in the next few days
I’m guessing from what she said I’m pretty much finished an waiting on my money
A lot of us are. It’s like being done eating at a restaurant and waiting forever for the waiter/waitress to bring back your change.
FJB, lol (smile) I bet a lot of us can come up with some good metaphors …hehehehehe…
Hi Jazzy
I also ordered my transcript an it says 0.00 then – 0.00 an got cycle 20170405
Can you tell me anything or meaning ?
Thank you
Nena, you should be in the 1st batch of releases hopefully starting in the morning thru Saturday. I have the same cycle code as you and I was accepted on the 13th as a tester. Keep your eyes on your bank account and check your transcript for the 846 code in the morning…if nothing happens guess it will be Thursday and Friday before we see pending deposits or DDD…cross your fingers :-)
Ya I called to but didn’t want to answer and then I called h&r block and they gave me a date of Feb 16
Nena, thanks for the update…look like IRS is not bending for the law…the 15th it is. Hope many of us wake up with some HAPPY news…can’t wait. Feel like it is Christmas eve can’t wait until I can open my present. Should I leave some cookies and milk for IRS on the table…or a sack of hot COALs…for making us suffer….lol
i did call the irs and they told me if i can order my transcript then thats a very good sign butg wouldnt tell me anything else until the 15th
I have a cycle code of 20170603 should I get my refund tomorrow?
I spoke to IRS lady in transcript department today, she said cycle code doesn’t have anything to do with your refund, it actually has a lot to do with when you ordered your transcript
That is true toya, cycle codes are used for batching and releasing refunds to the Master File to be submitted to the Treasury on Monday’s. Transcript just let you know your cycle code to determine which batch you will be in and give you valuable information on where they are in the process until you get the final 846 code. IRS will never tell the truth, because they don’t want us Taxpayers to figure out their system of processing…but it is all in the IRS Manual….outlined in details…
toya, if IRS admit getting your transcript will give you insight, 53 million who gets a refund will be requesting them, the other 100 million who owes the IRS don’t care about transcripts…they OWE…lol. So they will try to keep this little secret (quiet). I know how to read the Manual and I got their number down….and transcript do matter greatly. Trust me!
Jasmine, you were just accepted week of Feb 5-11th and already get your transcript…does your processing dates say 3-6-17? What do the WMR say? PATH MSG would no longer be effective so you should process normally and could see a DDD or deposit within the next 2 weeks. Look like they are processing those who are accepted the week of Feb 5 to present on scheduled. Refunds within 8-10 days. good luck
I cant find my processing Date on there but my wmr has tht path message with no bars…..was hoping it would be in my account tomorrow lol Thank You
Jasmine, oh ok…cross your fingers because just a few of us will win the lottery between `5-18 with a DDD and pending deposit hopefully this week up to Saturday. IRS is saying anyone who don’t get selected there WMR will convert back to the “we are still processing your return a date will be available…” I guess that will happen as the continue to process with DDD….up until the 27th. Based on their on website news release today. ugh :-(
sorry typo …meant the 15-18.
I completed my son grandmother tax refund on February 9th, it was accepted on February 10th.
She just got her federal return deposited into her bank account a few minutes ago…Today is February 14th.
She filed single w/ no kids, the bars on the website is orange and still is showing as “received” while I type this message.
Yet, she just got her money a few minutes ago.
Being Patient, Wow that was quick. They must be bored since they don’t have anything to do since they are holding 53 millions of our EIC/ACTC refunds. I read an article where they are actually seem to be disappointed because they are processing 29% less returns to date…so now everyone who files are getting process in 2 days…and deposits in 5…too funny…lmbo.
Ok we taxpayers have been very patient waiting for what we worked so hard for. Why on earth can’t they give us a DD date. We understand they not releasing any funds until 15. But OMG they could update the stupid WMR! Knowing tomorrow the whole world will be trying to have access to WMR. But trust me if you OWE them they will get THEIRS!!
Very frustrating! Waited long ENOUGH!!!
LOL, Sharon. What’s that saying “what’s good for the goose, is not good for the gandere”…smh. IRS is sooooooo wrong and so sad we can’t do anything ….but WAIT ugh :-(
Guuys its almost time! put your worries to rest. Tomorrow we will know whats going on with our refunds. At the least a Direct deposit date or better a refund in our bank accounts! I haven’t gotten much information from the irs or H & R block. I filed 2/7/2017 got accepted the same night and was able to order my transcripts 3 days later. I’m just waiting now. I have the full path message with no bars. I’m not sure what that means? I’m guessing from what ive read. I have a refund on its way.
Irene, yep it appears you are right there with the rest of us…IRS is kicking out the ones who filed after FEB 5th….guess we all should have just waited…I filed on 1-6 accepted 13th and will be getting a refund about the same time you will 6 weeks later..too funny. Who looks like the fool ME…hehehehehehhhe!
I filed and was accepted on 1/27. On hold because of the EIC.
Feeling so fed up I have both of my transcripts twice for over 2 weeks I’ve been on path for 3 weeks and still no update no refund just sitting waiting I’m praying tomorrow is the end of the road for me my cycle code was 2017 0405 sure if I’m daily or weekly or what I am but I’m hoping’daily and I update and get my refund tomorrow my processing date was 2/13/17 accepted on the 23rd before 11am jazzy you have been a help but going NUTS NOW LOL.
Nicole, I know the feeling, I been waiting for 6 weeks and been on the path for 3 weeks. I better be in the 1st batch with DDD’s..lol. I earned that seniority…lol. Just being on here chatting with everyone has really made the wait more relaxing…less stress. Thank you, I hope I was able to help out; So, glad we all about to see this journey come to and end…but some of us may be seeing a DDD up to the 27th…it will take them over 2 weeks to process and release 53 millions refunds.
I know thank so much I have my wine now lol calming down but scared I won’t get a DDD but my processing date was 2/13/17 what do you think
That is the same processing date I have, and we are the first cycle dates for 2017; the first 3 weeks were dead cycle and they combined them with week 4 of the year which is our cycle and processing date…so we should be first to get our DDD, unless they are doing them randomly instead of first in first out…who really knows about IRS..lol. Pour m e a drink….maybe 5 drinks…lmbo.
I’ll tell you in the morning jazzy thank you
I filed my taxes on 2/1/17 and I received my state refund on 2/6/17 but I have yet to get a DDD for my federal taxes. I also was able to order my tax transcript through the mail. Hopefully I will see a DDD soon.
If anybody went thro h& r block call the card and talk to somebody thru there and see if u got a date and let us no bec I called the card and i got hold of somebody and they told me that I have a date on the 16
I don’t know why it repeated twice sorry
I filed on 2/1/17 and I have received my State refund but I have yet to get a DDD for my federal. I was also able to order my account transcript last Friday. Hopefully I will receive a DDD this week.
what state? im ny.. still no sign.
Maryland
I still haven’t received my MD refund and it was accepted o 01/25. This year is just crazy
My friend just checked her WMR and her date says she should receive her refund 2/15/17, no later than 2/20/17. She filed on 2/3/17 and she claimed her daughter… Now her refund is not a lot and pretty straight forward… I filed two weeks before and I got the PATH Message… I hoping for the best
Tia, wow that is great. Good sign that WMR is updating with new information other than the PATH MSG. I am in the same boat you are….hoping for the best as well :-)
Jazzy – I stated last night that we should impeach Trump and make you POTUS . After further review I decided you should head the IRS . I think you could handle both ???!!!
Bob, I love your vote of confidence…and I ACCEPT…LOL.
I filed 1/27 have been getting the PATH message and I’m hoping that I’m in this batch.
The same thing happened last year, it was delayed. This year the IRS just decided to announce it and give everybody a heads up. I actually had my DD in my account and the WMR never updated and said it was approved or sent, so let’s just check our bank accounts people.
Yes there was a slight delay..nothing as compared to this. In all of my years of filing single with no eitc or actc it has taken roughly 8 to 10 days including the weekend to receive my funds
So i had a ddd for 2.15.17 and called my bank to verify a pending deposit and there’s nothing which has me to believe i wont receive it until Thursday or Friday. The irs is not fooling this year with sending them out before the scheduled date
I called h&r block bec IRS was rude to me i said look the IRS didn’t wanna answer me question plz help and she told me that I’m approved and that I will get my money the 16 and she said I have no pending deposit I said if I don’t how will I get my money she said it will spend tomorrow. So hopefully she is right but the IRS lady said I have to wait until the 27 but she didn’t look at my taxes forms so I don’t no what to think
Amber great news, keep us posted ok. We are waiting for the first person to share that long awaiting suspense DDD or deposit to give us all hope that we are next or movement is truly happening…yeah.
How can we find out if money is pending on are H&R Block Emerald card or will we have to wait until the 27th
Never mind I got my answer
Amber how did you find out about funds on emerald card
For those of you who have the PATH MSG to check after the 15th and you haven’t gotten any letters by now…let’s give it until the 18th to see what happens. Those who have NOT gotten the PATH should be on the phone NOW with IRS to find out why the holdup. Perhaps you can get it resolve. Anyone pass the 21 days, can tell IRS to do a 911 request form for an advocate to call you to help resolve this issue if you can’t…with an advocate IRS has 2 weeks to release the hold. Lookup one in your State
Jazzy, what is the path message you talk about? I just see the topic 152 on mine so far…
According to the protecting Americans from tax hikes path act the IRS can’t issue refunds before February 15 for tax returns that claim the earned income tax portion not associated with these credits. Check whereas my refund after February 15 thaws what u will see when they have processed your taxes I hope that helped
Teresa, do you still have our bars and the amount on the side? If they both disappeared and you have a FULL PAGE of the PATH MSG that says check back after the 15th for a personalized DDD…then you are good. If not, there is an issue.
Yea I still see my bars and amount. I received a letter from DOR yesterday for my state refund stating that I verify who I am entering my last name and a code on a website. I’m now wondering if something like that applies to my federal. Maybe I’ll call HR Block since the IRS is no help and thats who I filed with anyways…except I did it myself online through their program.
Teresa, I think that is what you need to do with the Federal. Keep calling until you get someone tell them the WMR told you you needed to do an ID verification and to call.
Jazzy, what is the path message you talk about? I just see the topic 152 on mine so far and its been 17 days…yes im counting lol
Its were it says the path message stating u have to wait until the 15 to see an update on ur refund
Agree, IRS WMR updates very slowly because everyone keeps on using it constantly thus causing it not to update. If it’s like my systen at work, its tied to one server and its seeing to much net work traffic to update. Wait at least till the 16th or even 17. Last 5 years they sent my refund before updated WMR. So they will most likely release funds then update. Good luck. Im holding out till the 17th lol gonna be hard not to peak.
I received the PLATH message but no letter from IRS
I just had to verify my damn identity. Each IRS rep kept saying different things and that’s all I needed to do. But I never received a letter they just asked me a load of questions over the phone.
Awesome, now you go back in que and within 1-2 weeks you should have your DDD or refund, probably still before 2-27.16. They can manually push it thru without going to in line as well. So you can get it this week or next.
They saying I have to wait for the letter first the letter takes 14 days to get to me then I ca verify and then maybe I can be done with this whole process. So I should get a dd first thing in march.
Destiny, wow that was a relief uh?
Hello, can anybody tell me if that 18008290582 ext 652 a legit number to the IRS?
Yes but watch out some of them are rude
Stacy, yes it is. I just called it.
Just making sure there is so many fraudulent numbers to the IRS and I don’t want to be giving info to anyone that is not with the IRS.
yes , use that extension, I called that very same number and same 652 today, the rep that i had he eventually told me what i wanted to hear, but it took a lot of tooth pulling, he did not want to pull up my account
Just like the IRS – they won’t pull your account but will pull your teeth ( only cause they know it hurts and is irritating ) ! Sorry – just couldn’t resist , hope it at least made you smile ??!!
LOL it did. Actually made me giggle…thanks for the (smile) we all need it bout now Bob.
Stacy remember to tell them you were instructed to contact them by the WMR and you don’t recall the code it gave you, cause you are not near a computer to look it up…..that way they will talk to you.
I’m trying to see my refund status…and it keep saying that i entered the wrong information…check my copy of the tax return and is good…talked to the lady that did my taxes..she said everything is correct…what can be hapening
Lola, did you file jointly? If so, try using the 2nd taxpayer SS. IRS usually file it under the person who made the most money in the year. CALL THEM if that don’t work…they can tell you what is going on…good luck
Also, give it a few minutes and try again. Could just be a glitch.
Lola, did you file jointly? If so, try the 2nd SS#, or try again later it just may be a glitch. If you can view your transcript that would help, try online, mail or phone…if it accept the info the WMR may not be functioning right now…getting ready for that huge update…lol.
The same thing happened to me but it changed after a few days… Yes I had EIC, so I still have to wait until the 15th…
same… :(
Same here lola. I spoke to a rep. Of irs today she ask me a hole alot question but told me the i should receive mines by 27th of this month. Dont worry even tomorrow the 15th ull probally see something on the where is my refound. Website.
I exiled my federal income tax return on 1/17/17 and it was excepted on 1/18/17. I chose did. Does anyone know if my refund will be deposited into my account on 2/15/17? I tried to check the status but I’m getting the path message because I claimed the eitc and also my 3 year old son. It’s been a long wait and I can’t take being in the dark anymore lol
Kristen, you should see an update any day now. If you still want answers give them a call, it has been 21 days. (800) 829-0582 ext. 652 or 18008291040, 1 for English then 2241…good luck.
Thank you mama I appreciate that!! Happy Valentines day!!
You are very welcome and thank you :-)
Kirsten, you were a test bathes, so you should be in the 1st update for the 16-18 or possibly see a pending deposit by Friday or sooner…keep checking the bank account…good luck
how long does it take to get your transcripts in the mail I ordered them about four days ago?
See this article – https://savingtoinvest.com/getting-a-free-copy-of-your-irs-tax-return-information-form-4506t-irs-tax-transcript/
Andy,
Good Information…thanks for sharing.
5 days, plus you have to add the time that your postal people do their deliveries, and sort out their mail, mines came in 5
I filed on 2/4 and lost all bars after that with tax topic 152 .. this says still processing . I do have eic and additional child tax credit .. what I am wondering is does that fall in the lines of the path message?
Laciesmom, no not if it say still processing, that mean they may be reviewing. You might need to call them today and ask what is the hold up.
I filed on 02/03 and WMR is not showing anything…doesn’t say it was received or anything. Anyone else have this problem??
Debra, did your bars disappear? Did the amount disappear, did you get the PATH MSG, to check back after the 15th. If so, then you are ok….we all got that which is a good sign.
No, I have not gotten anything. It hasnt even showed that it was accepted. It tells me to make sure I put all correct information in then it says I must wait 24 hrs after I get the acknowledgement email. Below has the 152 code.
I tried calling but they would not give me any information stating I have to wait 21 days…blllaaahhh…
Debra, did you say you were told to contact them on the WMR, and that you don’t recall what that code was? They have to look if you say that…
No. I have not tried that yet.
Just tried that and it worked…they have recieved it and its processing…Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!
Debra, so glad you finally got some results…whew. Now you can exhale…:-)
Yes, for now… :)
Mines just say they have received my tax return and processing. Do i need to do anything?
May, a lot of people are calling and getting results. Tell them you were instructed to contact them from the WMR and you don’t remember the code it gave you as to why your return was in review. Ask if you need to verify your ID or something? a (800) 829-0582 ext. 652 or 18008291040, 1 for English then 2241
correction, most of us got that…not ALL…lol.
I called and my return was pulled for review. It will take me 9 weeks to get a response if any refund at all. It will take up to April so you all be grateful. What does that mean what are they reviewing?
Destiny,
How did you talk to a live person? What number did you call and what number on the main menu? I’ve been trying but I just get the automated message!
its 1800 8290582 ext.652
1-800-829-0922
Or 800-830-5084
Or 800-829-1040
Don’t press anything about tax refund it will send you to a auto voice select anything other and you should be able to reach a live human hope that helps!
destiny did u get a letter
Destiny, they did not tell you WHY? it was pulled? Normally you can just answer a few questions and they will release it back in line to process. Did they send a letter or say they were? I would called back and get more info. Unless it is a FULL BLOWN audit, it will not take 9 weeks. Perhaps 2 weeks after you solve the issue. Also, you can request they do a 911 request for an Advocate to contact you and get it resolve quickly. With an advocate it only takes 2 weeks to release the hold.
They are just now sending me the letter. I had to call and ask tons of questions. When I receive the letter I’ll be put back in line according to the IRS rep.
Destiny you should have gotten a letter, about a week after you submitted your return at least two weeks, during these weeks everything been on hold you should have received a letter in the mail, and when you called in they should have told you why, and on WMR, it should have gave you a code, if it was pulled for review, it was because the system sent a red flag alert, did you file a new dependent ?, Are you a new tax filier in the state you live ?
Destiny, what was wmr showing before you called? How many days has it been?
Hi I recently checjed my WMR and it has the (path) messages just wondering if that means i will be getting my money this week??
Amber, it is a good chance if we don’t actually see our money in our account by Friday, we should have a DDD or have it no later than next Friday….I think way before the 27th…they just saying that to keep so many people from calling. IRS estimate 53 million filed EIC/ACTC.. this is why they are having a full crew on staff Sat and Mon.
Y’all keep believing the IRS if you want to , your money is gone be sitting in your account and you won’t even know because of what they say or by going off of wmr. Tomorrow after 7am EST or 4am PST which is when they update, pull your recorded of accounts transcript against..if you see code 864 they’ve processed it and sent it to the bank!
What’s ur prob we will get are money after the 15
I don’t have a problem I’m perfectly fine ! But Good for you boo ! Good for you !
Kiana, right….lol. IRS = I RUN SHYT….so they tell you whatever they want to. lmbo. I bet a lot of people will see deposits or get a DDD or code 846 by this Saturday…and will be some very happy campers ready to do the HAPPY DANCE…lol.
Kiana, I was told by a rep that WMR will not update until Friday, IRS rep said there will be refund deposits, a flood of them, but at the same time WMR will still look the same for some, she said just check account, and all banks don’t have access to pending deposits until the IRS releases your refund
Right toya just check your bank account I file taxes for my family and WMR advised of the wrong information
Path people are not getting the code 846
Toya, your return cannot be release without the 846 code on your transcript. That is the code that complete the full cycle for the tax year…and releases the refund. Everyone has to get that code…this is how IRS balance their account record and books and closed out the return. PATH people and all…
Morning everyone. I was just wondering if anyone else finds it rather odd that from the new IRS statement that WMR will update from 16-18 for most of us but before it was the first rounds of returns were being sent out on the 15th and NOW it says we won’t see them till the 27th at the earliest. This whole cloak and dagger from them needs to stop. I understand they are trying to “help” with this new law but to be honest, how much interest are they getting from holding onto our returns for longer.
TO ANYONE: If I were to call an IRS rep would they be able to tell me If I have Direct Deposit date?
If its been 21 days, YES if they choose to be honest which is rare…lol. If not, then they will just say we can’t tell you anything until the 15th…geez or they will say we are updating WMR 16-18 with Personalized DDD. You better off just checking your bank or transcript for the 846 code :-)
Unless you return has been approved by them I highly doubt it. I called twice so far and because it isnt approved after 2 weeks so far…they havent been able to give me any info. Just told me to wait pretty much. This Saturday will be 21 days for me. I hope there is a deposit before then!
I have a cycle code of 20170605 but I don’t see any other codes like 846. Where would that be? WMR says I should have my deposit by 2/15 so I’m hoping by Friday 2/17? Thoughts?
where did you go for your code ??
you view your transcript online or mail. That is where you will see the cycle codes and 846.
Danika, do you have a processing date of 2-27-17? You won’t see 846 until your refund has actually been released. But your account would see a pending deposit before then. All we can do is wait until tomorrow or the 16th to see what the updates will give us. That code would be the last code under the others…on your transcript…because that ends the process and closes the file for this tax year.
Jazzy, I don’t see a processing date anywhere on the transcript. I do see a received date of 4/15/17 though
Danika, scroll down to the next section you will see a processing date.- The 4-15-17 is the final date to submit tax returns without penalty.
